Anybody taken a Qtek 8020 / imate sp3i/ HTC feeler apart?

I've got the casing apart ( incidently the board is identical in shape to a typhoon even though the casing isn't) but the keypad is WAY different to a typhoon.

The keypad seems to sit on top of it's own sub-chassis attached to the front face, with locking arms at the top and bottom ( but no screws) - I've found 4 to release but only the top and bottom of the keypad want to come up from the face, can't find the pins for the middle section, and without removing the keypad can't get to the keypad board to asses it for damage as it's not working. I'll post pics once my camera's charged.

If I end up rebuilding this as a typhoon with a typhoon keypad what's the best rom to flash it with to get the different keypad drivers?
