The M500 is not the HTC Magician?

I think this list may be a small heap of dung, or there has been some misleading data but this list has the C550 as a HTC Robbie, not the HTC Hurricane!

- I know not PPCPE related but just to add to the apparent confusion of this list.

I personally think the chart is misleading and given msmobiles doesn't state the source for it I'm inclined to assume it's not from an official source.

Having said that, there has been suggestion before that HTC devices will often have a platform name (ie HTC Typhoon) and a product name which won't necessarily be the same (ie, the I-Mate SP3i was of the HTC Typhoon platform but with the HTC Feeler product name). Anyway, that doesn't explain the inaccuracies. I personally very much doubt the Qtek S110 and the M500 are the same product as stated in that chart.

Also the chart has the HTC Alpine on Orange stated as the SPV M2500. We used to think it would be called this but there are members here at MoDaCo who are Orange employees suggesting it'll out in the next month or so as the SPV M1500...

Actually, I've just had a thought, can someone with the SPV M500 remind us what the Model No. as stated in Settings / Device Information / Identity is? I remember noting before that it was a different model from the regular Magician (MDA Compact, I-Mate Jam, etc).

Now, if someone with the Qtek S110 can then tell us what the model no. is on theirs we'll have a better idea of whether they are closely related...

Mibbe that's why the M500 has disappeared all of a sudden. Mibbe they're upgrading it?

Where do you get the model number on the S110?

[edit]

Just realised how stupid the above question is after re-reading post.

It's PM10A

My Qtek S100 has the same model number as yours.

Well, the SPV M500 is apparently model PM10B so that disproves HTC considering it the same model as the Qtek S110. What I wasn't expecting though is for the Qtek S110 to have the same model no. as the 64meg Qtek S100. Spose it figures though. Just means there's literally no difference between the two devices aside from the extra ram.

Would be nice if Orange were upgrading the M500 to 128meg but I doubt it. They'd get complaints from all those who'd already bought the 64meg version.

TBH if you have the 64mb and they bring out the 128mb version then that's life I am afraid......................

How about the FCC ID - NM8 MAGICIAN

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Well, its more evidence that the msmobiles chart is incorrect is called it an HTC Refresh (something I've never heard before :?: )

Would the extra 64 make much difference....I have the M500 & it seems fine.

It'll make the device more stable when several programs are open and less likely to lock up due to lack of memory.

To be honest I wouldn't want a Pocket PC with less then 128meg. The main reason the Motorola MPX was a turkey was because they crippled it by giving it a pitiful 32meg ram!

I think that's the thing with code names, they don't usually mean anything. The Refresh is the one title that makes some sense as it's the updated version of the device with more memory. That said, they also include the M500, so maybe the Refresh part is referring to the different darker body colour rather than the memory spec.
