hi there,

i have searched for a similar topic but was unsuccesful.
a friend of mine gave me his old SPV classic phone and i wanted to upgrade it.
first of all, i unlocked the phone so it would hold my t-mobile SIM and after that i was able to install all those cute little apps because i did the developer SMS thingy.
but the problem begins when trying to upgrade to the latest ROM version.  since the current ROM is an NL (netherlands) version it will not allow me to use either the UK nor DK version.

my ROM info :
Operator: 1.3.6.25
Manufacturer: 1.3.6.25
Microsoft: 3.0.13059.0
Language: 1.3.6.25
File system: 3.0.13059.0

I've read somewhere (can't find it anymore) that it was possible to simply change the country identifier (UK or DK) into NL for the upgrade to work, but how....

any help is greatly appreciated!

Have you tried putting the device into bootloader mode? That's a three colour screen with the word Canary written across it (the device is actually an HTC Canary badged by Orange).

Once in that screen, with your firewall turned off and and cradle plugged directly into the USB on your PC (Activesync won't connect but that doesn't matter), rerun the update. It should procede but let us know if not...

Oh, and welcome to the Smartphone community! I had an original SPV myself and loved the device, despite its bugs.

I'm upgrading as I type and so far it's going without any problems.

I also had a different problem with this device in combination with ActiveSync.  It did not let me create backups and I was unable to synchronize my contacts.
My contacts are deleted now, but for next time I would like to keep them

If the sync problem happens again just post in Help and Advice and we'll try and come up with a solution...
