Hi,

Could any of you WM5 users tell me if your Pocket Internet Explorer supports AJAX (Asynchronous javascript And XML)?

For example, can you use Google Maps, or Flickr with the same control as in a "normal" browser?

TIA

WhiteMonkey

EDIT: Google Maps is, of course, now called "Google Local"

Depends on the site; AJAX is just a generic name. Different sites do different things, e.g. some do client-side xsl (google maps), some just do iframe buffering etc. I think the phone works with many of the latter. I know from personal experience that doing client-side xsl on the Smartphone 2002 browser was nigh on impossible and I abandoned it.

I tried google maps for you. You lose the dragging etc, but the site falls back to a less functional version that still does all the important things.

EDIT: Oops, just noticed you specifically mentioned WM5, my bad. The Google Maps test I just did was on WM2003, on both I.E. and ftxPBrower. Could someone else do WM5 as well? I'm quite curious myself, as I've restarted the project I abandoned on the smartphone... ;)
