Phone was former AT"&T phone. Purchased off ebay. Had this phone unlocked, checked my cingular coverage 850-1900. Put my cingular SIM in and it never asks for any codes,Phone starts up and never finds a network. Just says searching.

WHAT can I do to get this badboy working?

Thanks

Welcome to the site ;)

The MPX200 is not 850 compatable, this may be the main reson to your problem.

thanks

So even thoguh there is a tower about 10 blocks from my house, I would be onh the 850 not 1900??

I am confused is it both or just one band? becauuse my area is covered under the 1900 band. So iassumed it wolud work.

Wish i would have found ths site before I bought the phoone

You need to check with the network you want to use exactly what band

they are transmitting on in your area.

another thing to do is to change the settings to automatic on band selection.

I checked with Cingular, and they use 850 and 1900. On their coverage map all the surrounding counties are covered by 1900. I have tried automatic and just 1900.

I also noticed the country code is blank, will this have any effect on my phone?

If so what is it for Cingular in the US?

Thanks

(just noticed my spelling on the last post.........jeez what a moron)
