M5000 problems?

New M5000, less than 24hrs old, still slogging through the three different manuals...

Problem:

After closing clamshell, or letting screen go onto power save, I found it difficult to get the screen to re-light. It was unresponsive to tapping, or to opening the clamshell, etc - the only thing that worked was pressing the hard telephone "call" button, and then cancelling the "last dialed contact" screen.

A related problem was that the screen was active, but the brightness was set to minimum, so that the "desktop" was faintly visible (fully working) under a bright light.

It seems something is causing the screen brightness settings to re-set themselves to minimum.

Orange support didn't actually have an M5000 or any diagnostic stuff, so they tried to arrange for a replacement.....except, of course, "replacements" do not yet have any stock!

p.s. After laboriously copying my contacts across from my old SIMM card, I discover that "contacts" are not stored on the new SIMM card, and that there appears to be no way to copy from phone to SIMM on the M5000 (now about to lose the phone, of course!). Anyone found a way to do this?

I've noticed the issue with the screen, but as with the M2000, I press the power button to get the screen to return.

Regarding the issue with the contacts on the SIM card, have you set up synchronisation with your PC? If you have, your contacts will be in Outlook and will synchronise to the replacement M5000.

Power button doesn't work to re-light screen. The effect is to make it hard to tell if the machine is actually on or off.

Unfortunately, I've abandoned Outlook in favour of Thunderbird (I have 8 IMAP accounts to monitor), so this also removes most of the features of the synch!
