Updating my T-Mobile Rom

hi,

i wonder if you guys can point me in the right direction...

i was given a mda compact @ a confrence in frankfurt, last week, and i would like to upgrade the rom, either to orange m500 version or the main rom for a imate jam or qtec s100,

this is where my trobles starts the mda compact is it a imate or qtec device thay look the same.

also i am an orange customer and would like to use the orange customisation on my mda compact, if that is not availble can i use the imate/qtec rom for this...

also how do you upgrade the device .

any help would be great?

It's not recommended to install updates not intended for your device and your device will reject updates that have a different id code (ie imate Jam/Orange SPV M500, etc) unless it has been unlocked to any rom for the HTC Magician.

There is a way of unlocking (www.imei-check.com for example) whereby your devices' CID code is reset to factory default. This factory default code allows installation of any rom. I would be wary of installing an SPV M500 rom even if you do unlock though, given the HTC model number is different from all the other HTC Magicians and there is evidence the SPV M500 works different (the sim unlock tool not working for example).

Having said that, the latest HTC Magician rom available is actually the T-Mobile MDA Compact rom found here and Orange UK have never released a rom so you might as well stick with T-Mobiles update.
