Wizard Woes

I've had my qtek 9100 for around 6 weeks now.

I'm delighted with the form factor but there are just so many things that bug the hell out of me.

1) the lack of reliable notifications is killing me. notifications going off AFTER i hit the power button and wake the thing up are no use to me.

2) the machine reboots itself randomly more and more often.

3) sometimes after a spontaneous reboot, the notification alert sounds repeatedly with nothing to tell me why. arrrgghh.

4) i can no longer sync with either of my pcs.

5) the speed is starting to bug me. it's actually way slower than my creaking old se p800 that it replaced. i still use the p800 of course because it CAN get me up in the morning reliably.

has anyone encountered any of these issues ? anyone got any solutions ?

thanks in advance.

The sad news is, certainly from the experience of myself and a number of others on here, is that there is a fair chance you will have some issues. Not everyone seems to be having the same issues though, and some folk have had none at all it seems - so it's not a device to warn "don't buy one!!" about just yet.

I'm not giving up yet, as it's such a lovely piece of kit and potentially wondrous... but I've managed to resolve a number of mine already and have plenty of hours of forum browsing ahead of me on which to learn how to resolve the rest.

I wish it were more reliable, but you pays your money I guess! (Well kind of, I got the Vario free on a cracking tariff, so even if I end up back on the C500 I'm better off :) )

I have a Qtek 9100 as well and haven't experienced any of those problems but I do have a set of probs that are annoying me a little.

I have a suspicion that the Qtek software might be a bit creaky, my AS on the device has to be treated v.kindly or it will slow down my device to the point where it needs to be rebooted to name but one issue.

Hopefully a ROM update will sort most of the issues out, generally speaking the overall build quality has done well and I have no issues with it, compared to previous HTC products (Original SPV, E200, C500) which I had more hardware/build quality related issues with.

There are a few threads on these forums about people having problems with their Wizard phones, but I would say the majority of them are faulty units. The vast majority of owners seem happy with their device, it's only the small minority that actually have problems that tend to visit these forums to try and resolve the issues.

Firstly, don't let the threads on here put anyone off buying one. I myself have got an MDA Vario, and it's an absolutely amazing phone. I've had quite a few smartphones and this really is in a different league.

Secondly, If anyone is having serious problems with their wizard it's well worth getting a replacement before knuckling down to actually try and fix the problems yourself. Does seem like somehow a faulty batch managed to escape HTC!

I would have to echo that. It's shaping up to become one of those gadgets you remember for years to come. Even my fiance wants one!

I've a similar issue with the alarms. I set a daily alarm to go off every morning to get me up for work. However when the alarm goes off nothing appears on the device so i can dismiss it and it goes off all day, have to mute it and hard reset every night to get it to stop.

Very annoying on an otherwise great device

Strange problem.

Have you tryeto check the sounds and notifications in the settings

If you go to reminders there is an option that says display notification. maybe thatone is off.

It's a wild guess but maybe you're lucky.
