spvm500 problems

my spvm500 is playing up. its six months old now. after soft reseting it yesterday, i cant see the storage card, it ocassionaly asks me if i want to format it. moe worryingly it keeps freezing, and i have to soft reset it to get it back

any ideas? sorry for short post but im at work using my phone between freezes!

removing the sd card has cured the freezing problem

I am on my third SPV 500. The first in late November 2005 worked as a PDA but not as a phone. It was eventually replaced. The second phone lasted all of a minute as the assistant put my sim card in it and there was a frying sound and smell of smoke. I had to wait for a third phone to be delivered.

This one has lasted me until yesterday. I pressed the power button to put the phone into standby mode. The screen went white apart from the black band at the top which says start on the left hand side. The phone was then frozen. Only a soft reset worked.

I am now in a situation whereby my phone is fine if connected to incar charger or usb cable or mains charger. As soon as it is taken off external supply the phone freezes as soon as it goes into standby mode. I tried a hard reset and initially not all the orange software reinstalled so I was left with no mms, gprs setttings and the gprs monitor software and orange specific software didnt load. After three attempts at a hard reset all the software installed itself.

Guess what though? The phone still freezes when not connected to external power. I'm waiting for Orange to ring me back!
