Hi All

Im after some advice please. Ive been reading the posts on the site regarding the car mounts and blutooth handsfree options. My senario is thus:

Im buying a new car, and I want Tomtom AND hands free. I suppose the quick question would be: Can I pair two devices to my vario ie. my GPS unit and a bluetooth headset?

Ive actually have the tomtom software and got it working! and bought the tomtom GPS bluetooth Reciever. I now need a car mount, im considering:

The Brodit Active Holder with Tilt Swivel - i-mate K-JAM / Qtek 9100 (Vertical) £34.95 http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/8670.htm with the Universal Suction Mount £9.95.

Anyone had experience with this combo? I was also considering a G2 headset also but im worried it wont pair at the same time as my GPS unit. Is this possible?

Any advice appreciated guys.

Dave

I am using the Brodit mount plus the specific car mount that they make. It is perfect. The positioning in the car is ideal and there's no risk of it falling off. I have used suction mounts in the past and they have always fallen off, usually just when I need the SatNav most.

I've got CoPilot for the Sat Nav, and my Vario grinds to a halt if I run too many other things at once. Outlook for email and MSN messenger are OK, but I also start Windows Media player or TCPMP for MP3s, Internet Explorer etc then it can grind to a halt. It might work for you, but I would try it out before relying on it.

I would agree that you don't want to try and do too many things whilst using Sat Nav (this was also true on my C500). Sat Nav and phone calls in the car are no problem but I have never tried playing music as well at the same time. I have always found that media players are pretty processor intensive anyway.

Can you point me in the direction of a UK supplier for the Proclip as I'm getting a new car on Friday and would like to get a proper car mount for it?

Also PDA Hut - I can vouch for their service quality.

Thats for the advice guys. ill bear this in mind when running lots of apps. But lets assume im now using the vario just for my MP3s:

When you have your Vario plugged in to the Mount/Charger in your car. How are most of you connecting it to your Stereo?

options:

a) FM transmitter:- its battery operated and can be fiddly to get a clear station

;) 3.5mm to lead direct to a tape player: - you'd need a long lead

c) directly connected to you car stereo and a Aux source:- need a compatible stereo

Are these all of them? One major problem im worried about it the acces to the 2.5mm socket at the bottom of the phone. How accesible is this?

Thanks

I don't have a tape player, and can't really get to the aux input of my stereo (assuming there is one on the back of the stereo). Therefore I've opted for an FM transmitter.

I bought the Digiana Audiax II Wireless FM Transmitter a while back to use with my C500. The sound quality is pretty amazing really, even more so with my Vario compared to my C500. It is a bit fiddly to plug it in to the phone and find a neat place to hold the transmitter, but it's a decent compromise if you can't use aux input.

Just ordered a Proclip and holder for my Vario from PDAHut to fit in my new Toyota Verso.

I don't think you will be disappointed. It is the best phone/PDA setup I have had since I last had a fully fitted car kit in 1999.

I had a full handsfree for my SE p910, but when I got the vario and a new car I opted for a Bluetooth headset (Sony Ericsson Akone HBH 662) and was going to get a Brodit holder.

In the end my phone just fits in my cup holder and I use the headset including Voice Dial in the car and the display.

I'm not using mine for SatNav though as I have that in the car already.
