C600 Dust Issues

Hi Guys,

I have checked the forum but cant see anything about dust issues with the c600, I am due to upgrade at the end of the month and I want to know if the c600 has the same dust under the screen issues that the c500 has. I sent my c500 back for repair a month ago and it is full of dust again 2 weeks later. This is the only fault with the phone and I hope it has been corrected with the c600, or I may need to go for the i-mate sp5.

Please let me know asap!

Is it faster?, slower?, easier?, better features? more features?, battery life better?, better internet browsing?.

Please enlighten me!

I had a c500 for a year, now have the c600.

I loved the c500, for all its little quirks, it was a pure gem.

So far, the c600 is even better. Battery is more powerful, but seems to hae the same life (for me). Definately feels quicker to use and the keys and joystick are very positive and precise.

The screen is crystal clear and feels great to use and read, (as long as you have good vision, some of the text can be small. My sight is 20/20)

The case feels better to me, it has more 'grip'

One thing thats very slow is viewing video directory in thumbnail mode, that is unusable for me.

Yet to fine one application to load onto it, but ive not looked that hard.

And the sounds are clearer for me, weather my c500 had a slight problem or not i dont know but its better in my case anyway.

After trying mine, the misses is now upgrading her c500 too (free for her, £50 for me, due to usage)

My battery is the same as the one I got with my C500 also, I have one large dust speck under my c600 screen.

I agree with the comments on differences with C500.

Just one thing, if the joystick is better, it is less easy to use in the car while phone being "docked". It is so small that navigation is quite difficult, better is to use the shortcuts numbers.

Otherwise keyboard is better as well as case and screen even if you have to be abble to read small fonts.

Thanks everyone for your honest opinions!!

On the whole it seems like the c600 is a natural successor to the c500.

I just hope the one I get does not succumb to the dreaded dust issue, which for me is the one thing that really puts me off the spv range.

I had begun to look at the i-mate sp5 as an alternative. I guess I will give spv one more chance to impress me!

Cheers! ;)

Had my C600 for about a month. No dust issues yet like my C500 (although i took that apart and cleaned it with great ease). My joystick has given up already though! its rubbish. Bring back the paddle from the C500!

Is anybody aware of the same dust issues with the i-mate sp5?

I know that they are both made by HTC but the size and build quality may be different. After having problems with Orange trying to get a new phone because of this dust issue, I am thinking hard about moving from Orange and getting an i-mate sp5.

At the end of the day, I just want a phone that does not accumulate dust after a couple of weeks. I have read a lot about how nice the new QVGA screen is but it seems pointless if it is going to get dust under it again.

Cheers!

Same. Mine's not accumulated any dust at all - and I keep it in my pocket most of the day, and then in my gf's bag at night.. no scratches yet either :P

I have my SPV600 nearly 5 months and the dust problem is evident, it's not bad yet but evident all the same. Funny, I had no problems with my C500.

i don't like the 600, has some better features but poor memory, slow and buggy.Video is awful, bluetooth transfers slow and keeps going into flight mode by itself. Cant wait to get rid of it after the year is up.
