Uninstall Orange Customisation on M5000

Hey guys,

I'm tempted with the idea of trying to speed up my m5000 by uninstalling the 'customisation version' that is listed in the remove programs dialog.

I assume this is to do with the orange fiddly bits, such as xml desktop thingy etc etc. I'm just wondering if anyone has tried this? As I don't want to uninstall it without first backing it up and currenlty dont' have a backup tool.

Do it... That was the first reconfig I did... a hard reset will reinstall it if you feel you need it again...

a 14 day trial version of Sunnysoft Backup Manager is available also if you need that:

Yeh I've disabled the homescreen too, as has been said it was the first thing to do when you get the device. To be honest with you I'm so youst to the standard homescreen, as I've previously had an axim x3 and an orange m2000, that I couldn't deal with all that orange faff.

I'll get this backup manager now and will uninstall the customisations.

well I just uninstalled the customisation thingy and to be honest with you.

I can't see ANY change. WTF was in it? I've checked in all the folders and I honestly can't see any software thats been removed or any change in the device state.

I think that some of the default Orange sounds are removed, like alarm, sms, etc. You can still set others though.

You can see the full difference of what is included on the Orange ROM if you do a hard reset and after calibrating the screen, choosing a password & changing the time zone do a soft reset... this will stop the Orange customisation ROM from installing!

This is a foolproof and safe way of testing the performance with no Orange junk installed...

When you've finished you can simply perform another hard reset without a soft reset thereafter.... et voila!! just how it was when you first received it from Orange... !!
