Paul > DJHope posted a screenshot on the first page of this thread ;-)

Somebody should contact the media , i found this in one of the Smartphone newsgroups and i think he's right:

"Here is signifcant evidense that orange have been stifling development

through application signing, so far NO ONE has been intrested in creating

malcious code in fact quite the opposite, since certification has been

removed by the smartphone community the following apps have suddenly

appeared, within days just imagine what we would have had if they hadnt of

bothered with this rubbish in the first place!

Doom

Quake

Gameboy emulator

Snake

Saffron

Tujah

Boyan

Tetris

QBickie

LogHic

And most famously of all PHM Registry editor!

Within days these have appeared, would you like anymore evidense of how

pathetically orange are treating its customers?"

Fantastic Mboden, just to let you know I haven't had any hangs, I'm running with just over 5meg of memory free. quick question, is there anyway of increasing the brightness ( don't all faint ;) ) of the in game graphics, I remember on the pc version you could increase gamma or something like that... cheer matey.

Ok guys, can anyone help?

When i put doom on my phone, i run it and i get loads of txt scroll down my screen quick, then it just takes me straight back to my home screen.

Any ideas why this happens and how to sort it because i am really interested in seeing even just an alpha version of this port so i get some ideas on how to develop other great classics

i would love to, but i have no way of retreiving this file off my phone at the moment, i had to use IrDA to upload it.

Sorry, i'll try tomorrow when i can get to my cradle

MBoden: I seem to remeber doom having the option of turning on a low-res mode, i imagine turning this on for the smartphone would have 0 cost on quality (due to the small screen size) you may have done this already, just a thought ;)

"Doom had a low-res mode (toggled via F5) that doubled the width of the pixels being plotted by messing with the write mask in unchained VGA mode. That, coupled with the triple-buffering used, made the game majorly fast and quite playable on a 386/40."

OMG, is this is true I may just have to bite the bullet and unlock my phone.

Really wanted to avoid doing a hard reset, it scares me silly.

But DOOM and maybe Quake soon, oh man my dreams are answered.

Love you guys.

If anyone is prepared to walk me through (MSN) the unlocking procedure please mail me [email protected]

I'll prbably have a go at it the weekend - Saturday.

Cheers, Shire

Downloaded DoomSPV alpha code - Even bigger thanx to MBoden - you are god!! - cheers

BUT . . . cant get Doom to work . . . error message . . 'The main WAD file DOOM1.WAD could not be opened' Does the wad and exe file have to be in a particular sub-folder on the storage card :?:

Would be very please if someone could help.

Unlock information is available in other places... but

Undo it? Yes, a normal hard reset will completely restore your phone to a locked normal state.

Warranty? a) they wouldn't be able to tell, ;) you haven't done anything to your phone apart from use the software so there is no way they could legally say this affected the waranty
