Right here's the problem:

Suddenly realised that my M5000 hasn't synced with the Exchange server since yesterday. Connected it to my PC instead and it comes up with an error message:

Activesync encountered a problem on the server.

Support code: 85010014

So I run Active Sync on the handset and it gives the error message and it gives the same message:

Activesync encountered a problem on the server.

Support code: 0x85010014

Exchange Server

Synchronized 30/01/06 12:52

Windows PC

Synchronized: Today 20:24

Being clever (!) I put the USIM into my old SPV C500 and it syncs up nicely over GPRS and brings in new contacts that I had entered on the PC and synced via Exchange.

Soooooo..... it seems the problem is on the handset and not on the server (otherwise the C500 would have failed too right?).

Orange's response?

Sorry sir, we don't support that feature on your phone.

What good is the M5000 if it can't sync with an Exchange account?

What good is Orange Tech Support, if they aren't prepared to do some minor investigation into the problem?

Looks like I'm back on the C500 for the time being  , unless some helpful soul here has an idea of what the problem might be!

I don't sync with an exchange server but i do use activesync and about 2 weeks ago i had that exact error come up in activesnc. After a fair bit of googling it turned out it was apparently an issue with Outlook, and the only way to resolve the issue was to uninstall Outlook and to re-install it again. This did resolve the issue but i don't know what you can do in your situation?!

I suggest some googling

Uninstalling and reinstalling solved it for me - for one sync. The next time I synched I got the same error message again.

This is with an Exec at work.

It will be interesting to see if it works when I get my setrver running at home.

Hmmmmm... may well have to try a reinstall of ActiveSync. I did a repair of Outlook and that didn't help.

My C500 temporarily stopped syncing but now is fine again. The M5000 still won't sync.

I am mightily puzzled by all this. :?:

I found this on a few other forums by searching for the error number and they all say that it's a corruption with Outlook, that sounds like such a cop out but all the answers state the same thing. Perhaps the repair wasn't enough :)

That's why I did a complete uninstall of outlook and re-installed it.

It worked.

Once.

Then I got the same error message so gave up.
