Jamin enroute - Questions

Hi,

My Jamin is on its way from the Post Office depot and I will be spending today testing it to see if it meet my expectations for GPS, MP3, Phone, organiser (PB CB etc) and games (in other words it does everything my current JAM does).

I will probably post any problems here so hope my fellow early adopters will have the answers :)

I do have a quick question to get you all started.

Can I use a Wifi dongle to connect to my PC and connect to the internet through Active Sync passthrough? I have a bluetooth dongle to do this just now on my JAM but it conflicts with my BT GPS so I have to keep deleting the partnerships to use it which is a pain.

Thanks

Jamin has arrived :)

I am a charging it now and will be loading software onto it shortly.

I have a small problem with clubi-mate. Whenever I try to register the device with the IMEI no it comes up with a page in IE telling me the operation has timed out.

Any ideas?

You can't connect ActiveSync over WiFi... you coul djust connect to the web using WiFi with a peer-to-peer WiFi network with your PC tho and Internet Connection Sharing...

Thanks Paul will try that once I get going with the phone.....

...which is easier said than done.

Tried to install Outlook 2002 (was using 2000) and Active Sync 4.1. Outlook 2002 does not recognise my email settings and can't get it to read my backup PST file.

Tried to revert to 2000 version of Outlook but my DVD drive stopped reading my CD discs!!

Just put in new DVD drive so hopefully will be able to "finally" start installing the JAMin. Talk about frustrating.

Did an install last night until I got to Tom Tom. Then it just didn't work. Spent better part of two hours trying to get it working to no avail. Began to regret getting the JAMin and wished I gone for the JAM 128mb.

Went to bed and got up, spent some time in Google and got it working first thing (Yeah).

I am now installing the phone again but so far everything seems to be working. The JAMin does seem a tad slower moving through menus than the JAM but not really noticable. Tom Tom seemed to run more or less the same as the JAM. I have still to even try the overclocking utility so it is looking like a good buy!!

There is a light at the end of the tunnel.......hoping it ain't the front of the oncoming train!!

Regards

Have now hard reset my MDA Compact so no going back. Did a bit of testing tonight with Tom Tom and was able to take calls, navigate and play MP3s on MortPlayer without it crashing or locking up.

Still early days but this does seem a good device. Definately a bit slicket overall than the JAM with the extra buttons, Wifi etc.

One slight problem. It won't sync notes for some reason. There is not check box to select them in ActiveSync. It did last night when I did my first install but now it doesn't.

Any ideas?
