Tomtom Probs on a M500

I used Tomtom for the first time on sunday, the problem being that in '3D' view (the one with the scrolling display) it crashes. (I'm not surprised - it is running Microsoft OS :) ) it just dumps you out to the today screen. This was fun for the first couple of times, but soom became a pain in the arse, esp when I had to keep stopping to put the postcode back in.

This was one of the main reasons I got the M500 & I became so peed off I lobbed the phone onto the back seat & resorted back to the old pocket map & AA directions. (I very nearly didn't bother picking them up!!)

By the time I had arrived at my destination I had calmed down, dug the phone out again & rest it up for the return trip, only this time I set tomtom not to display the scrolling map & just show the static direction arrows, & it worked fine & never crashed once. Its not ideal as I found some junctions are ontop of another & the 3D map makes this much cleaerer.

Someone tell me what I'm doing wrong.

Sounds like memory allocation was a bit on the low side.

Perhaps you had a few to many things working in the background as well?

Try a soft reset then run TomTom again and see what happens.

Hiya, have no idea on the rom side, you'll have to talk me through that one.

I'm running tomtom navigator:

App Version 5.000 (4890)

GPS driver: V1.20

Map: GB-Map V562

I have the new maps to go in V602 I think, I also have a 1Gb Kingston card installed too, so it should have plenty of room.

I have this same problem, but always in the same place on the map. If I go north from my house the software crashes, east west and south it is fine. I think there may be "glitches" in the maps?

Have been told that the 5.2 software update will cure it.

hi sorry for the delay, I tried yo clear the phones memory, under running programs but the same happens.

It does it at any point on the map & only when in the scrolling 3D map view, in the static arrow view it is fine.

I ham currently downloading Navigator 5.21 from Tomtom which I'm lead to believe is the updated version??
