All my ActiveSync'd work appointments are showing up as an hour behind on the device. I presume this is a BST issue, but I can't find an option where to specify daylight-saving on the device - the date/time settings don't have that option. Do you know where it is in WM5?

Also, are there any decent apps out there which auto-set the time via internet time-servers?

I too can't find the daylight saving option but I definitely remember setting it up when starting the phone for the first time.

A couple of other things you can do/check that might help are: -

In activesync on the PC (with the device connected) under Tools> Options> Settings, you can select the option to synchronise the time on your device with the PC you are syncing with.

Also make sure your work PC has the correct time zone / daylight saving options - IT departments in the UK are notorius for setting up PC's with default windows settings and not localising for UK. Also, if your work calendar has entries created by other users with incorrect daylight saving settings on their PCs (where yours has) then these may also appear 1 hour out of sync.

Thanks. I do have the 'sync time' option set on ActiveSync, but just wondered about internet time-server syncing. Having said that, I've written a tray app which does for my PC (with extra options over and above the normal Windows functionality) so at some point when I'm bored I'll see about writing a PPC version.

Our network admins have actually got the daylight settings correct, but I know what you mean about them (e.g., I spent 3 hours trying to work out why the wifi wasn't working on my device, only to find they'd given me the wrong WEP key.... )

Unfortuately you've found one of the most annoying bugs in Windows Mobile, its usually affected by changing your time settings when you travel abroad. There isnt a fix, simple as that ;)

I don't know about the daylight savings time, but here is the registry hack to have your device pull time down off your carrier's network. It automatically updates. FYI, I don't know who posted the registry hack below, I saved it from another forum.

NETWORK TIME UPDATE -> HLKM->SOFTWARE->OEM->PhoneSetting

Set "ShowTimeZonePage" to "1"

Once this is set, and you have power-cycled, when you go into Settings->Phone you will see a new tab - "Time Zones". Go there and you'll see "Automatic change time zone and clock". Check it and voila - your time updates from the network.

Just had a look and I think the key you're thinking of is 'HiddenTimeSyncPage' but I think it's not available for all PPC devices...

I confirm i have the exact key (and am using it on my K-JAM) that Jimax mentioned above and from reading forums over at xda-dev's.com and elsewhere it should apply to all PPC's. (or at least the WM5 PPC's)

Cheers,

Chris

I tried it, it didn't work for me.

What ROM version are you using?

Its possible that this could be a feature added in the new AKU ROM's such as the recent i-mate and qtek releases as now i come to think of it, i may have only seen posts regarding it after I upgraded my ROM.

I dont really understand why you have a problem :S i woke up yesterday morning and my phone informed me it had changed the time automatically, as had my laptop (obviously) and I just synced them and everything is still as normal... Can you clarify the problem? I've obviously missed something important here.

Glad you didn't have a problem. But my Vario hasn't updated at all. To get round the problem I've had to manually set a +1 GMT offset by telling WM5 that I'm in Paris.

Very annoying.

Stupid bloody Microsoft.

I just figured out a way to fix it for now - I had the same problem on my phone since daylight savings time happened. I got the appointments to sync correctly when I told my phone that I live in Alaska instead of the Pacific time zone, then I adjusted that time to reflect my correct time. Seems to have fixed my problem for now.
