Thanks Paul - I'll give that a go.

No sorry - wasn't straight away. Initially tried in opera and I couldn't get past the first page of the site, then I tried in Safari and got the error message, went back to opera to again in there and then got the same error as in safari.

Just tried from my pc and all is working fine.

Thanks

Yeah I had to sign up in Firefox on my mac because the signup page doesnt seem to like Safari, or the other way round!

I've signed up and installed the software but it seems the text message that it tried to send out didn't get through :)

"Sorry your text messaging service is currently unavailable due to insufficient funds."

What's annoying is that I get a similar (voice) response if I try to ring the customer service department of my bank! I can only assume that T-Mobile are screwing me over in some way, by not letting me contact certain numbers?!?

This is using the U-Fix 15 tarrif and they take the "funds" out of my account each month. Does anyone have any ideas or should I just call T-Mobile and try to find out what the problem is? (I've tried this before but gave up after waiting 20 minutes to get through to someone).

Yes you are eligible. If your phone isn't in the list, please select one that is closest to your model (such as the Orange SPV C550, the UK Tmobile SDA II etc).

Yes, web n walk will allow this as well - as it uses a tiny amount of data :)

I think I solved my problem, I only had 1p balance on my account, even though I'm on U-Fix 15. It seems that 0845 numbers (and some others numbers) are not "handled" by U-Fix payments and you need extra credit on your account to be able to contact them (stupid really).

Now that I've got credit on my account, will the M:Metrics software try to send out another SMS seeing as the first one failed? I presume it won't as it won't "know" that the first one failed?

What can I do about this? Reinstall the software?

In the t&c's it says that for anyone not reporting usage for a period longer than 24hs will have any personally identifiable information disassociated from their data submitted. Does this mean if I leave the country for a couple of weeks and any unable to report back usage patterns that I'd be out of the program, or does the account just get put on hold for a while?

I think you're right, as I received an email earlier saying the software had successfully reported activation on my phone (or something along those lines).

Based on that I think it's working now :)

I'm amazed by the number of people, who for an initial reward of a paltry 15 pounds sterling and 16.4p per day thereafter are ready and willing to submit personally identifiable information about themselves and their mobile activity, via indeterminate software, to a hitherto unknown private venture-capital funded company located in Seattle.

Incidentally, I'm very curious to know why the same type of data from the mobiles of our transatlantic cousins is worth only 8.06 intial reward followed by a mere 9p per day?

As for their privacy policy... how many of you have read it closely? You're entrusting your private, personal information to a company that operates the "safe harbor framework established and used by the U.S. Department of Commerce related to the collection, use, and retention of data from the European Union." Do you seriously think that the USA gives a damn about our data security? They don't seem to be able to agree as to how confidentially their own data should be treated, let alone ours!

If you still have confidence in the security of your personal data then let me admit that I shared your views at one time... That is until my C.C. company informed me that due to a leakage of theirs, my C.C. details were amongst a list currently being circulated for sale... They would be issuing me with a new card immediately and would I please alter my sign-in and password ASAP! ... And yes, it was a bona-fide communication, not one of the many scam emails that we all regularly receive.

Oh! And before anybody mentions the sweepstake that you gain entry to... It runs for eight months, from May to December and IF you chance to win the ONE prize of a 40" flat-screen TV, then... "The TV must be collected from M:Metrics Limted at 65-66 Frith Street London W1D 3JR between 15 January 2007 and 19 January 2007 or prize will be forfeited. Winner may be responsible for any shipping costs." Added to which we find that "Winner will be required to execute an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability/Publicity release (except where prohibited), which must be signed, notarized and returned to M:Metrics within 7 days of attempted delivery of same. Noncompliance within this condition will result in forfeiture of prize." and also... "M:Metrics reserves the right in its sole discretion, to cancel, or suspend this Prize Draw..." So I think that the idea of ever actual winning this magnificent? prize can be safely discounted as an incentive to join.

Yes, I know, nobody is forcing me to join, I can take it or leave it... as you may gather, I'll have rather less chance than any of you of winning the Grand Prize of a 40" HDTV-Ready LCD Television... alas! :)

Another point to ponder may be F.A.S.T.? Securing access to confidential details doesn't appear to be all that unusual in the States, from what little I've learned! Let he who is without sin, etc.... This comment may elicit a veritable landslide from a certain awarner (MVP) perhaps? :)

I remain stunned that your personal privacy has so little value to some of you that aspects of it can be bought by a virtually unknown outside agency for 0.7 pence an hour!

All the above IMHO, etc.

It's nice to see the usual healthy paranoia in your posts Sp00k :)

Unless you live in a cardboard box in the middle of nowhere and never fill out a single form etc in your life your personal details are already out there wether you like it or not.

TBH I'm with Sp00k on this one.

I have no doubt that all sorts of data on me, that I've never even thought about, is "out there" somewhere.

Currently that doesn't include the content of emails, passwords, contacts, websites visited etc and I'd prefer it stayed that way.

Does it say anywhere that they will not log keystrokes for example? Anyone ever put a password in via their PPC?

Hopefully this company is trustworthy, and I'm sure Paul checked them out very thoroughly in advance, but ... it's not for me. The data would be interesting, and I'd like an app that recorded it in a form and location that I could use.

Just think, if this app had only been available on Symbian when announced is there anyone here who wouldn't have said it was a new phishing scam for backward Symbian users?

It's nice to see the usual healthy paranoia in your posts Sp00k :D

Unless you live in a cardboard box in the middle of nowhere and never fill out a single form etc in your life your personal details are already out there wether you like it or not.

This I realise but the details that I enter on forms, etc., are deliberately erroneous in some way or other wherever it's possible to do so... I haven't used my full name for many years now, I'm not on the electoral register and my CC details, whilst being consistent between accounts, paid promptly and hence satisfactory to Experian and the like, are very far from correct! :)

As Chucky.Egg points out, running unknown software that makes periodic reports on your activities is not conducive to the preservation of what vestige of privacy still remains in this 'Big Brother' society of ours! And I'm not talking about Endemol's attempts at entertainment! :)

May I add Mr W... It's been said more than once that just because you're paranoid... it doesn't mean to say that someone isn't out to get you! ;)

Of course everyone is entitled to choose not to participate, however having met the team personally, found out as much about the application as possible, and knowing personally one of the team behind the application, I AM participating.

It's kinda interesting to see concern about keylogging on your device (which of course isn't going to happen), but i'm pretty sure the same people install all sorts of software on their PC every day :)

Finally, a MoDaCo member has already won - and received - a LCD TV :)
