This might be a stupid question, but I've seen both terms used regarding the Orange SPV M500, and I don't know what kind of software should I download for this phone (wich I'll have in one week)?
The manual says PocketPC Phone. What is the difference between Windows Mobile 2003 Phone Edition Second Edition (of SPV M500), and Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition for PocketPC (as for O2 xda II mini, as I know)...Thanx in advance.

Both apply to your device. It is a pocketpc and will run all suitable software for pocket Pc's with  windows mobile 2003.

It is not a "smartphone" and wont run software written for smartphones (like the c500/600 etc).

Touch HD runnign Dutty's latest rom

I wouldn't!

I'd say anything with Symbian or WM2003SE is a smartphone.
Anything running WM2003SE (or variants) is a Smartphone (Microsoft officially coined the term, hence capitalisation).
Anything running a PocketPC/Palm/etc operating system I would class as either a Pocket PC or a PDA.

That's just me though.
