Hi,

Orange contacted me the other day with an offer to upgrade my C550 to what ever I wanted (within reason).

Now, I am a bit unsure as to how the current batch of phones stand up right now, so I am after your advice here...

I see there is a C600 out and an M600. From the orange site it appears that the C600 is not that much different to the C550. Actually it was the same when I went from the C500 to this C550, not really much difference and all the bad things were still left in. As for the M600, haven't got a clue what that is like but notice it a bit bigger than the C550.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Hi there, the C600 isn't all that different from the C550. It's more of an upgraded C500 with WM5 running on it. Haven't used one myself (C550 also for me) but a mate has one and he was happy with it. He went straight from the C500 with it's crap resolution screen to the C600 with it's QVGA screen though.

Have a look here for the specs - it's the left hand picture on the 2nd post. The C600 is Orange's version of the HTC Tornado.

C600

The M600 (someone correct me if I'm wrong) is a PDA/MiniPDA style phone. Not sure if it's running WM5 or WM2003SE.

Had a quick look through the PocketPC forum but can't find any specs sorry.

In my opinion it's worth waiting a few weeks becasue the HTC Breeze (C700) and HTC Hermes (M3100) should be out soon so it's worth having a look at them aswell.

Breeze & Hermes

Hope this helps!

My question would be, do you want to stick with Smartphone, or would you be interested in a Pocket PC...?

I'm bout 2 jump ship from smartphone to PPC with a HTC hermes on tmob flxt 35 + WnW. its just too good not to :) especially with all that unlimited data ;)

well, nearly, i doubt i could get through 2gb a month :)

My question would be 'why stick with Orange?'

recently moved from a C550 to a Vario (HTC Wizard) on T-mob and have never looked back.

If you want to stay with smartphone then the only worth while upgrade I feel is the imate SP5... and the only new stuff that has is WM5 and WiFi. You could always jump ship to PPCs

HTC left WiFi out of the Breeze.....gits <_< probably due to pressure from operators who dont want their revenue from voice calls etc to disapear over VoIP

Exactly, that's a "shame" :), and that's why I don't consider coming back to Smartphone until they release one with wifi. I'll stick with my Wizard, and maybe soon with an Hermes (M3100)
