Orange SPV M600 - MMS?

Hi,

I got my M600 last week and discovered that MMS messages weren't sending.

The MMS Settings page states that the connection to use for sending MMS messages is "Orange MMS", so why can't I find it in my Connection settings? There's WAP, GPRS WAP and Internet connections, but no MMS. I know that you need to use a different APN to send MMS messages so this must be why it wasn't working.

I tried to create the "Orange MMS" connection needed to send MMS messages but I got an error when I entered the name saying that it "already exists"... Sneaky Orange! If you're going to hide a connection, at least make sure that the settings are correct!!!

Solution:

Use a registry editor, like Resco... and navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Comm\RasBook\ and delete the key "Orange MMS"

Now go to your start > settings > connections tab, select connections.

Select "Manage Existing Connections" under Orange World or whatever you have renamed it to.

Add a new connection named "Orange MMS" with the following settings (courtesy of www.filesaveas.com/mms.html):

Access Point Name: orangemms

Username: Orange

Password: Multimedia

Data bearer: GPRS

You shouldn't have to change any other settings, just make sure that your MMS Configuration is OK.

From messaging select Menu, MMS Configuration

Select the servers tab and then tap on "Orange MMS" from the list.

Make sure that the settings match with these (again, courtesy of www.filesaveas.com/mms.html):

Gateway IP (proxy) address: 192.168.224.10

Port: 9201 (some users have reported 8080 works if 9201 doesn't)

MMS Message (Relay) Server URL http://mms.orange.co.uk/

Also make sure that "Orange MMS" is selected in the "Connect Via:" drop down box.

Finally, make sure that in your connections menu that it is now set to "Auto Pick" your connection. This may prevent "Your Page" from displaying correctly in Orange World WAP pages, to resolve this, see this thread.

There you go. Hope this helps some of you out there who may have experienced this problem. It must be happening to other people as this was a problem that was there immediately after a hard reset for me, which indicates that Orange have included a major flow in their Operator ROM for the M600.

Cheers.
