Guest rickwookie
Just got off the phone to T-Mobile. Total call duration 31 mins. This is the time it took to connect and complete the deal, which is interesting because it is almost exactly the same length of time that I was on hold waiting to get through to Orange to ask for my PACs, which they then said they would call me back with them (yeah right, I'm still waiting). Anyway, apparently the Vario II will be in tomorrow (although the guy said that if his e-mail was telling him that he realistically expected to get them on Thursday) and here's the deal I got. Business 1-Plan with three users sharing 500 mins and 200 texts with two users on WmW Pro and one on WnW Pro with the datacard option, on an 18 month contract (they give 25% off the whole package for new business users if you go for the 18 month option) including free insurance on all handsets for 12 months for a total of

Guest rickwookie
have you discussed handset costs on other plans? I've just given them a ring and I had a nice lady who did her best to explain that although a press release was issued todya, they had none in stock. She did not want to discuss handset costs until the device was physically released :) That's the story I got last week. I was told that the Vario II would be way too expensive and it wouldn't be available for ages and I was offered three Nokia N70s instead. The guy today had just read an e-mail a few seconds before I rang apparently saying that he would have stock tomorrow. He had to hunt around and couldn't get a price through his usual route but found that the handset 'value' was the same as the Vario with Co-Pilot at about Edited August 15, 2006 by rickwookie

'Someone I know' ;-) got an SPV M2000 that they didn't need and sold it on e-bay for a tidy sum. I'm not sure how the networks calculate how much they are going to rush you for the device. I would like to think it is based on them recovering the unit's cost through the basic rental alone and then any calls etc are extras. However, that doesn't tie in with T-Mobile claiming the Vario II device cost is Edited August 16, 2006 by rickwookie

Guest rickwookie
Incidentally, T-Mobile discount for 18 mth contract was reduced from 25% to a mere 5% on June 30th 2006, so if anyone's still being offered 25%, well done! On the two occasions (this week and last) I spoke to two different T-Mobile reps and they both offered 25% for new business defecting from the dark-side (or the future's-bright-side depending on your POV). I was impressed because on their website they do only offer 5% for 18 months and 10% for 24 months.

Guest rickwookie
Wow that's impressive.... I've just got my M3100 on a new contract with Orange... what's the cancellation policy on that I wonder? I thinkk if you've just got it you should have 14 days cooling-off whereby you can return the phone (in it's unknackered form) and cancel.
Guest stripeycat
Wow, how did you get one from T-Mobile for tomorrow? I spoke to them today and they said maybe the end of the month for the release, in true t-mobile style; and when i pressed them, they said only *maybe*; they wouldn't even confirm that date! Guest julianmclean
hApologies for going slightly off topic, but I'm not sure where else to ask this... When you join t-mobile these days on contract, aftyer how long can you change your tariff to a cheaper one? I am reading everywhere that it is 11 months for 12m contract, 17 months for 18m contract, but I thought someone mentioned at some point that it had been reduced to 6 months? If anyone can clarify (including any diffs between FlexT, Relax, business, etc) it would be helpful in me working out the best deal for a Vario II on T. Ta... Guest rickwookie
Received our datacard today. Spoke to our T-Mobile Business guy this afternoon and he said that they had just received their first batch of Vario IIs. They were currently in testing (which he thought should take around three hours) and they would then be released. He said if they didn't go out today it should be tomorrow morning, assuming testing don't find any last-minute problems with the T-Mobile operator software. He said he has a few other users ahead of me on the list, but not many, and was sure that I would receive our three phones from this first batch and be one of the first in the country to get my hands on the Vario II.
