Activating Orange Sim

Just got my SPV 3100 this morning from Orange. I've been trying to call the 07973 number to activate the sim on & off all day but unable to get through. The recorded message states 30mins waiting time :D :D

Anyway I still haven't activate it yet so can't make any calls.

Anyone know an easier way of doing this? What's their opening hours for activation?

Thanks

Try the 08000790027 to see if they can deal with it (its for upgrades rather than new customers sims).

(I guess Saturdays are the busy time!)

Don't get a new mobile phone on a saturday. Suicide! :D

So if Orange ring you up and say your 3100 will be with you on next Saturday, you will say "no dont bother til the Monday?"

Or you could sit on it until Monday until you try and... nah. I'm being silly.

I'm a bit shocked with Orange these days. I haven't phoned them for about a year, but I never for 30 - 45 min waits then.

Have they got rid of lots of staff to try and save money or something? :D

I don't know but when I phoned the upgrade line to purchase on Friday 11th August at 0930hrs to buy my upgrade I was on hold for 25 minutes, then got cut off, phoned back another 30 minutes on hold (depressing music too..)

When I phoned to activate on the Tuesday 15th August at 1430hrs, 35 minutes on hold before someone said, "oh you are a business customer?" I'll have to put you on hold (another 20mins) then I got told the phone would be activated within 2 hours.

I phoned back at 1645hrs on hold for 27 mins, then was told activations can take up to 24hrs.

The phone actually received the SIM Update at 0920hrs the following day.

Most of those calls weren't at peak times, so god help anyone at those times :D

Orange - love the M3100.

Hate your IVR phone system

Please try harder for customers actually choosing to give you new business as I nearly gave up and went to T-Mobile during this upgrade process.

Also paid

I used to have a business account and found 150 very quick to answer, then took the account private and got used to five minute waits, then got offered premier and found almost instantaneous answering has been the norm (and as I posted elsewhere I gave up on premier a while back as I got an Imate JAMin and didnt need the insurance but 150 still took me straight through and the OCS person answering would say "Welcome to Orange Premier Mr Jimbo"...)

It is interesting that Orange seem to be just about the only network who didnt make the leap to sims that could handle 3g etc for all customers - it seems T and V customers "old" sims work on their 3g devices and networks - thus saving the need to have different types of sims, and a complete support network/call centre dedicated to sim-registering.

Surely the one-time investment to switch all customers over to USIM's over the course of a year or two would have been cheaper than having a permanent sim-swap team (even if they are in Mumbai and have to watch eastenders to ensure they are in touch with UK culture...Alright Rickeeeeee).

I gave them one more go just before I was about to go out at 11pm Saturday night & got through almost immediately.

Maybe I shouldn't have bothered because I'm sending it back.
