Just got my v1605 this morning - but i put my orange sim card in the phone as there was no vodafone sim - I was surprised to find it works.

Anyone else have this?

While I'm writing - here are some other comments on V1605 vs Vario II - i was expecting to prefer the v1605 but i have to say that so far the Vario II is better...:

- can't customise soft keys on V1605, and some moron has set the left soft key to Phone - just above the "phone button"

- key board is not as responsive on v1605 - often need multiple taps, esp direction keys

- today screen customisation has been restricted by Vodafone

- v1605 phone is more wobbly when flat on desk - thanks to extended rubber plug in vario II

- still not sure which nav pad layout i prefer - but it is more difficult to press the centre button in on V1605

- No MSN on V1605

All the Voda units are just rebadged Qtek/HTC units so they are SIM unlocked :D

Hard reset, then soft reset when it gives you the three second warning. Everything is back to normal, then run the voda_reg and update over BMP cabs within the extended ROM.

For more customisations, including a review of the v1605 take a look here
