Guest Socrates
Over here at Howard Forums, there are some links to the FCC copy of the manual for the Cingular 3125. It indicates a 128 mb ROM and an 1100 mah battery. I understand the QTEK has only 64 and 700 or something like that? Anyone know if there is any traction to the idea of the US version actually having those specs and it not being a typo?

I hope it's not a typo and I doubt that it is - there is also a non-camera version listed. I'd love an 'extended' battery - hopefully they haven't put a hump in the battery cover to accomodate it! Guest
yeah these are definatly two ereas that need improving on the startrk, I constantly have to "prune" unnecessary files off my phone to free up ROM and the battery is fairly poor if you use the phone for any extended amount of time. As Richard pointed out though there's not much space to fit a bigger battery in there, hope they don't screw the phone up. gr
Guest w4rmk
The extended battery has already shown up on mobile planet and is available for pre-order. http://www.mobileplanet.com/product.asp?code=140374

Guest Doomstalk
My contract with T-Mobile is up in a month, and Cingular has a reasonably priced all you can eat data plan now. Perhaps I should switch, and eBay my old 8500 :D

Anyone know if there is any traction to the idea of the US version actually having those specs and it not being a typo? According to Specs, my QTEK 8500 has 64 MB RAM 64 MB ROM Checking the actual System Info from Task Manager I have:- Storage Memory: 16.94 MB Used: 10.03 MB Free: 6.91 MB Program Memory: 44.85 MB Used: 21.51 MB Free: 23.34 MB The above seems to indicate the 64MB is actually shared between Memory and Storage, so is this ROM or RAM? and if so where is the other 64MB? This is probably an obvious question but does 128MB of ROM with the new Cinglular mean more storage memory on the phone or more Program memory? Guest
hi paholman no RAM and ROM are not shared in WM5. What you dont see is the RAM being used by the system running or the ROM being used by the system (storage). If you get a version with 128MB rom that will give you more space for storage (not running programs) That would be handy as some things cant be stored on the storage card (outlook data for example) hth gr

Guest Socrates
So the phone was there this morning on the Cingular website for $149 US (after rebates I assume) and it seems it does have the bigger battery battery and ROM. OF course the phone has now vanished from the web site, which seems to happen with new Cingular phones when they are released and sell too quickly.
