sadly..yes...my t mobile vario 2 has been stolen. i know this may not be the best place for legal advice..but i was wondering if people on the forums have had the misfortune of being in this situation and making a claim. my phone was stolen from my clinic by a patient(!!!) when i had stepped out of the office for a few secs to get a prescription script. Soon after he left, i realised what had happened....and the rest is history, as they say. t mobile, police, everyone informed, with relevant crime ref numbers noted. but my phone insurance company is refusing to accept my claim...they say i had left it unattended in my office, even if i was for few secs. i feel totally disgusted...althought it is according to their exclusions, but it seems thay seem to be excluding everything except clear violent breakin/entry associated thefts. i ordered this insurance thru t mobile...and as usual, i was led to believe, this would cover practically everything....

any thoughts....i m currenly appealing against it via their own appeals procedure....what can i do next?....

All I can suggest is seeing whether it's also covered by your office insurance or home insurance. Must admit I wasn't impressed with fonesafe's T&C's.

When I lost my phone I was suprised to find it was covered by my household comntents insurance - even though I explained that i was very drunk at the time and had no idea when or wher i'd lost it!

Worth checking your contents ins - if they covered my claim they might cover yours.

It does sad when a doc can't even trust his patients - hope he had some nast fatal disease - lol

Good luck

On the other hand, my last experience.

Ring up

Wait 50 mins on hold

"Hello, I appear to have lost my phone. Can I have a new one?"

"Where did you lose it?"

"It fell out of my car when I was getting petrol."

"Was the car locked?"

"Well, no, I was getting petrol and hence getting out of the car, standing beside it. It wasn't stolen, it fell out and I didn't notice."

"I'm sorry, if your car wasn't locked you can't claim."

"But..."

I'd also warn about claiming on accidental damage. Do it two or three times in a year and your premiums will begin to hurt... All swings and roundabouts..

I had my Vario II nicked out of the car last week, have got 2 perfect quality CCTV videos of the person responsible, but the police arn't that interested. The little scally threw a brick through the window and nicked it cos I left it in the phone holder... DOH...

Hands up... it was my own stupid fault for leaving it on display in an unattended car!!!.

The problem I would like people to focus on is that I believe that even if I had T-Mobile insurance, it would not have been covered... but how do I get a new phone ?

T-Mobile direct quoted me a price of

Yop, I got my Laptop and PocketPC (all in one bag) stolen at London Waterloo station a few years back.

It was all on CCTV (smile!) and reported it to the Police but they couldn't be bothered... only willing to write down a report (key pushers, not what I call the Police...).

Unless someone dies or is seriously injured, nothing is likely to happen, except if you have forgotten to pay your road tax or you are driving slightly over the speed limit

Conclusion: it pays to be a criminal.

Had my handset nicked out of my check-in luggage by Iberia baggage handlers at Tenerife airport. It was flat and I had put it in my luggage along with my wallet, without realising.

Got to Gatwick, wallet was empty of cash (luckily cards still there) and my beloved Vario 2 gone.

One thing I must say that I am finding annoying is the difference between the way Orange and T Mobile handle insurance.

In the past when I was a Orange customer, I'd contact them and they sort it out. Nice.

With T Mobile your insurance goes through Phone Safe. It was fairly simple to lodge the claim, but when it came to replacing the handset their method is very annoying.

They email your closest high street store with your details and claim details, and you have to physically go there to get the handset.

Not too much of a pain, but I rarely shop on high streets being a online junkie, so I thought I might call the store first to make sure they had stock.

They did not. So they advised me to call other stores, as they could not tell me who would have stock and who wouldn't. After the 4th store I'd had enough of that so I called CS. They told me it was up to me to find someone who had stock, not their problem, they couldn't help me at all as its not up to them. This isn't what I wanted to hear!

The problem with the high street store is the sales people are generally only very basically clued up as to what they're selling. Sure they can fill out new contract paperwork but I'm yet to find anyone remotely clued up in PPC/WM devices in a retail outlet.

Apon further conversation with the Insurance company I was told I could go to the high street store and 'buy a sim'(!), and maybe they will have a loan phone I can use. This was over a week ago and I've not heard a thing from anyone at T Mobile at all.

Orange definently win in this department.

Orange are very good at insurance from my experience. Phone broke on the monday, phoned them up around 6pm, new phone was here by 11am tuesday

I'm wondering if its going to be worth my while taking out insurance on my Vario II when i get it. Having said that I am going skiing but would that be covered by travel insurance if it gets lost/stolen?

Had a fairly unsympathetic talk with a lady from Orange insurance earlier this year - still got the new phone but was told to be more careful as they would not expect it to happen again.

What happened was I put my phone on the table out of reach of my 18 month old daughter. It turns out that she is quite creative in terms of building things to stand on so she can reach things she shouldn't. I found my phone in a bucket of water a while later. (This was before I joined the PPC revolution luckily)

The lady at the end of the phone did not understand how she could have got to it if I had put it out of reach. Now yes I suppose that I should have locked it up somewhere, but anyone with kids will tell you that this is just one of those things.....She kept asking "but how did she reac it then" - I asked if she had kids, to which she replied"no, by choice"

There you go then.

As I said, still got the new phone though. 0 when I looked at changing cotnracts the T mobile insurance didn't look great.
