Toggle backlight settings

Hi All,

I've just got a Krusell bike mount for my SPV C550, and I need a way to toggle the display settings so that I can keep the screen on permanantly when I am riding. I know it is possible to remap the internet explorer button on the top of the left hand side of the phone, and this would be ideal. The best solution would be if I pressed it, and the backlight stayed on permanantly, and then another press would return it to the normal settings.

Is there an application around that could do this, or is it a fairly easy thing to write? I'm a programmer myself, but I mainly deal with web development and scripting. I've never programmed anything for Windows Mobile.

Thanks

Scott

Someone else might be able to suggest something better, but for this purpose, I load up Tomtom then return to the homescreen (Without quitting TT) and the backlight stays on - To turn it off, I load up TT and exit it.

I know there's prolly a better way of doing it, but thats all I know of.

Hi Scott,

You would probably be well served to PM this bloke who posts from the Philippines. What he doesn't know about the innards of the 550 doesn't need to be known

There's a link on his profile page to his website which is jam-packed with useful programming, tips and tricks so check that out before you PM him.

Good luck :(

The following works pretty well on app-unlocked C550

1. Download then install Backlight Toggler to \Storage

2. Download then install CopyFiles utility

3. Download this attachment, unzip content then overwrite 'CopyFiles.config' at \Storage\Program Files\Mossywell\Copy Files CopyFilesConfig.zip

4. Download this attachment, extract content then copy to \Storage\Program Files\Mossywell\Copy Files Short_POC.zip

5. Restart phone

Copy Files should patch 'Short_POC', the so-called Internet Quick launch shortcut. The attachment from instruction 4 will map your IE Quick Launch button to BacklightToggler

Press button once, backlight stays on. Press it again, backlight goes back to previous setting. :)

Ah-ha - the man himself :)

Thanks gpcarreon(MVP). Greatly appreciated :D

You are most welcome. :P

There is another way to do it (using MortScript) but I prefer the above as it would not use vibrate command.
