Guest dr_nick Posted November 3, 2006 Report Share Posted November 3, 2006 (edited) i bought a 2.5mm - 3.5mm 3way stereo adapter for my previous phone (m2000) to plug into tape adapter for in car use. rather crude but effective handsfree solution, seemingly working with the microphone on the handset. however, when i come to use the same adapter for my *m600* (2.5mm audio out), i can only hear the audio in one channel and the phone doesn't pick up my voice AT ALL. :( (several annoying conversations: "hello?, Hello?! HELLO!!?") i seem to recall i had to pay over the odds for the m2000 adapter as was wired an odd way round? - cost me about 20quid anyway, and i know you can get them for pence...(ebay, etc) so: 2) are the three terminals (left and right speakers and mike) wired in a different order? 3) will this cheapo thing do till i can afford my pioneer bluetooth headunit? (note there only seem to be two terminals on that 2.5mm plug!) 4)are these available from modaco shop - can't seem to find m600 i the drop down for "choose your device" 5) does someone want a used m2000 2.5mm - 3.5mm three way adapter to cover my costs...? :rolleyes: thanks in anticipation! dr_nick Edited November 4, 2006 by dr_nick Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I've just completed it and it works perfectly. Compare the picture attached to that of your adapter and you will see the cut I made. You must cut the sheath back all the way to the bottom of the protruding plug to have it stay fixed in the m600 whilst driving on our rough roads!. Guest dr_nick Posted November 7, 2006 Report Share Posted November 7, 2006 (edited) jonlad thanks very much for the advice! have heard of this solution before... but i dont think it is the irght one for me - there isn't any looseness (it has never fallen out) also, my male connector has three black stripes (one for mic as well). when it is plugged in, clearly one of them is connecting with the mic output and disconnecting the on board mic (which is why my callers can't hear me), and the other is connecting with the one adio channel. the adapter is in the car atm, but will try this tomorrow with a scalpel (naturally!) an report back! have just ten minutes ago splashed out on another adpater off ebay (1.98GBP no less!), maybe will have more luck with that - tis a two way connector instead of three, but listed as compatible with dopod 818 (same as m600?). thanks again dr_nick Edited November 7, 2006 by dr_nick Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest jonlad Posted November 8, 2006 Report Share Posted November 8, 2006 just fyi dr_nick prior to the trim the adapter still felt like a perfect fit. It even clicked as though it was fully home in the port it wasn't loose or prone to coming out. After the first attempted cut I could shake the handset simulating travel and get a sound dropout which is why I recommended cutting all the way back as I did on my second attempt as after that the jack could not be worked loose at all. jonlad PS did the magnetic mount work ok as I am awaiting delivery ? Guest dr_nick Posted November 8, 2006 Report Share Posted November 8, 2006 (edited) magnet mount applied this morning, have to leave it 12hours to stick - didn't seem to want to stick down and will be surprised if it is still affixed to the dash when i get back to it after work... re audio out... my 2.5mm jack doesn't have any plastic i can cut away - the shoulder of the jack is metal...! Guest dr_nick Posted November 12, 2006 Report Share Posted November 12, 2006 new adapter arrived and works flawlessly (and without any modifications i might add, 1.98 incl postage off ebay link :D handsfree and audio streaming via a cassette adapter (considerably cheaper than the pioneer bluetooth solution. one word of warning though: be careful plugging in in the dark. i managed to properly screw up the mini usb port by trying to plug in wrong whole in the dark, whistl driving :P will be ringing orange care shortly... :) dr_nick Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

(grr) seems to work ok when i make a call (or did for the first couple), but i have since recieved a couple of calls in the car and have had same problem as before (ie mic not picking up my voice...) i will try and test it again on the way home from work tonight... but anyone have any clever ideas about why it might work for outgoing but not incoming calls? audio through the adapter seems nice and stereo, with no problems.. ho hum only cost me 2 quid anyway, and i am not popular enough to receive many calls when i'm driving! :) dr_nick Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
