Try a soft reset

Hard reset will definitely fix this. If you've recently restored from a backup this might have caused it. I had it while I was on holiday recently, bah! <_<

I am really anti-backups. I keep reading on here and elsewhere how many people have issues and problems with devices after restoring from backups.

I may be lucky having directpush and an exchange server (and a microSD card for pics, music, maps, apps and stuff), but if I had to hard reset all I would lose is any new texts...but all my important stuff could be re-installed via activesync within ten or fifteen minutes.

Ok, in the same vein, here's a good question regarding unwanted alarms...

I synced my Hermes with my existing AS installation (which had all my 2i stuff on it) when I first got the phone. I don't sync my 2i any more, it just sits in its cradle fully charged as I use it for GPS and nothing else. However, the initial sync copied over all the 2i alarms - which don't appear in the Time And Date / Alarms pane, they just show up...

... It's not really a problem at the moment, as I have to wake up around the times every day for Uni, but come the day my timetable / schedule changes, it's going to be a right pain. It's quite annoying as it is.

I can find no easy way to disable these (ghostly) alarms, is there any kinda reghack or third-party app I can get to tame these beasts?

Screenshot of alarm when it's active:

The added issue is that, if you tap out of the notification instead of clicking Dismiss on the LSK, it stays on the LSK for AAAAAAAAGES until you go Reminder -> Dismiss, which is a right hassle if you forget, and after a while it gets a bit tedious:

Anybody got any ideas?

Not if you're in Greece...! :)

Had the same problem, and the only thing that cured it for me was a full hard reset. Damned annoying having to re-install my software, but all the important data had been activesynced or was on memory card.

done the hard reset, worked ok......anyone recommend a better alarm program?

I now have the same problem with the alarm going off after switching on the phone or a soft reset :)

First had the alarm going off (even though was switched off in settings) at 04:15!

Then this morning when using the phone to make a call, it seemed to freeze when selecting a contact. So decided to go for the soft reset. Then when it rebotted it sounded like all 3 alarms were going off at the same time - a tad bit embarassing on a quiet train! Is there no other software that can be run on the phone to resolve the problem rather than a hard reset?

Also another strange thing happened today - the phone was set on vibrate and when the phone rang it played a tune and really loudly at that! Is this all tied in with the alarm problem perhaps?

I've got Pocketbreeze installed with a couple of games, ewallet, Fizztraveller 2 and PhotoContacts PRO. All seemed to be working fine up til last night.

PLUS now getting low memory message (can't understand as I've got music etc all stored on the card). :D

Many thanks.

Hi everyone, I'm having a similar problem.

At the weekend I set 2 of my alarms for 12:00 and 12:15. They went off on time.

On monday night I changed the times to 10:00 and 10:15. They went off fine on tuesday morning. But so did the 12:00 and 12:15 alarms!

Quite embarrising, annoying, and scary considering I was in the dentists chair at the time!

Tried a soft reset, they went off again on Wednesday, turned all the alarms off, soft rest again, they went off on thrursday. I'm expecting the same thing to happen later today :)

Is there anyway to fix this other than a hard reset? I haven't backed up my device yet and doing so now would only tranfer the problem back once i restored. Aalso have no software to salvage my texts.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Mike

Had this same problem myself but managed to resolve it WITHOUT a hard reset...

Seems it is related to a problem with the notifications/scheduled tasks list. To fix I installed a program called Memmaid (there are others out there such as SKTools), and then by going to the Notifications List, I could delete the offending notification from the list. Voila! No more alarm! :)

While there, I also found a few other problem notifications, some of which, after further investigation appear to be from a failed activesync session, and these seemed to be playing havoc with other notifications. If you have any blank notifications in Memmaid with {9B904401-A867-4042-967B-4063F62B2EE5} as the description, you can delete them without any problems. I'd also delete any past notifications if you have any, including those annoying recurring alarms some people seem to be having.

I tested this out after deleting the problem notifications too btw. I setg a new alarm, and then when the alarm went off I got a notification and could stop the alarm!

Also, just FYI, all alarms, calendar, and task notifications set in WM5 are added to the phone as scheduled tasks. By using a great program such as Memaid you can easily manage these if they ever stuff up. For those of you with alarms that re-occur at other times or on other days, just delete the clock.exe tasks from the list.

Hope this helps... I'm just glad I can finally contibute to such a great site after it has helped me so much!

...so did memmaid actually work?? i've got the exact same problem!! i thought it was when i changed timezones (weekends in the u.k. mon-fri in the NL) but clearly not. actually when i do change the time zones, sometimes the device freezes with the little circular timer showing, for everrrrrrr :)

i thougjt my old m1000 was horse pooh but this is just as bad!! i guess it's time to use backup plan THREE - spv e200. . . .

Had the same problem too.

I fixed it with this little and free program (CheckNotifications):

http://www.scarybearsoftware.com/cn_overview.html

Just search in the list for the notification that is making the trouble and delete it.

After that I never used the build in alarm and used enAlarmPPC instead. It is a great and cheap (8$) program.

You can check it out on handango (trial version available too):
