TV and Radio reception

Those who have the Lobster 700, what do you think of reception?

I've found the TV is more fussy about signal strength than the radio but to get smooth video you need to have a very good signal otherwise it's not worth watching as the image is always buffering.

In the house I have to be upstairs and by a window, any further away and I get a lost signal almost immediately.

The radio on the otherhand is far better but I still have to be upstairs to recieve a signal.

When I do get reception the radio is extremely clear and well worth buying the device for.

TV is ok, but as mentioned somewhere before the sound is slightly out of sync, tried to watch BBC1 when Days of Thunder was on and a message from Anuty Beeb told me it was not available to watch!!. So be aware it may be free to watch BBC1 but you may not get all the programs.

I was amazed at the sound from the DAB radio, when it's clear its crystal, when reception is dodgy it's like a tin man. I drove my car and reception was still good. The DAB alone makes me want to keep the device since the cheapest DAB radio is about £50-£60.

I will be ordering a memory card on Saturday and hopefully by Tuesday evening I will be able to answer a question that no-one has asked or if someone has the answer please give it, will it run TomTom !!

As to the keyboard, the keys are bigger than on my XDA IQ, BUT when I go to press the left softkey I have a habit of pressing the home key. maybe a few days use will change my views (or my fingers!)

The phone seemed to get a bit warm, but that just might be because I was holding it for a while, but not had that issue with my XDA IQ.

very impressed with mine.... get good reception (although i live on the 4th floor flat and am in sight of my local digital transmitter...!) but I also get pretty good signal at work where I know traditional FM signal is poor. for the money i think it is incredible, barely more than a portable DAB radio and i get to break it by putting my dodgy code on it :)

I get good reception. Really quite impressed.

I live in north London. The TV & DAB works great in and outside the house

I travel on thameslink into London.

The TV is fine into west hampstead. After this, there are tunnels and it fizzles out until city thameslink.

My office block is near blackfriars but there is no reception inside the office at all.

I found the reception can be quite good :).. lately its been alot better than my Dvb box in the same room :D

where my digibox glitches out all the time, my lobster gives a stable picture and costant feed without loss of sound.. unlike my dvb which seldome has sound and keeps losing picture.. the reception it terrable..

this is in carlisle..

I'm getting excellent DAB, and ok TV outside. Inside depends on where I am in the house.

This is in Nottingham. Probably going to keep the phone just for DAB walking the dog, and may try it in the car too.

Living in London means i get great DAB signal nearly everywhere which is great as i was not gonna spend about £100 on a portable DAB. Tv reception is also impressive....was watching neighbours travelling 50mph on the tube with the person sitting next to me not believing what they were seeing. Not happy that you cant watch certain programmes...mainly films and sports but it must be due to licensing or something. Overall impressed with the phone. DAB, TV, Windows Mobile and a phone all for about £50 (sold the credit it came with) great value!

Possibly slightly off topic this but is TV related. Has anyone managed to get the EPG side of the TV software working? Mine never displays what is available to watch even though I can look several hours ahead.

I have the same issue

My radio EPG works great but my TV looks nothing like this:

No TV reception at all round hear - have to wait til tomorrow and try on train on way to work. Radio reception impresive.

Where else can you get a DAB radio for £43

Where else can you get a WM phone for £43

Methinks I have a bargain even if I can't get TV!

Hello,

I have great reception for the radio and good to very good reception for the TV (at home). I have to say I am really impressed with this device.

Although similarly to Looeee I have no EPG for the TV or the radio.

Had major problems a few minutes ago - thought I'd bricked it as the device appeared to be completely frozen, absolutely nothing was happening when I was trying to action things.........

.............doesn't help trying to use a stylus pen on the screen of a smartphone!!!!! D'oh.

After having an XDA IIi, XDA Mini S and now the Vario II, I'd completely forgotten that I was using a smartphone which doesn't have a touch screen. Scary thing is I want to tamper with the Lobster, not sure this is a such good idea now.

BUT really do want to get the EPG sorted!
