I'm considering porting large numbers of ... numbers from Orange to another service provider, but I have had some bad experiences with porting in the past so I wondered if there are any good tips out there.

Ideally I'd like it staged to deploy the new handsets and SIMs over the course of 1 or 2 weeks, can porting be that precise (operator says so, but I'm looking for real world experiences here)

Anyone got any advice from porting this sort of quantity (or more than half a dozen at least) in the past?
What should I watch out for?

I've no idea about porting large numbers of users, but for a single user port, the system supports specifying a particular date for port.  It defaults to 7 days (5 working days) from starting the process, but it can be delayed up to 7 days after PAC validity expires - most CS guy's won't tell you that, but when I ported to T-Mobile, I was asked whether the port date was okay.
