after recently installing tomtom 6 i have benn trying to get my bluetooth gps to auto sync. Ive tried following a guide that i used to set up tt5 without any problems, but it wont seem to work for tt6.

1. Establish a bond with your GPS and select the checkbox for serial access.

2. In BT com ports, select the OUTGOING port to 6.

3. In the GPS control panel, select the GPS program to 0 and make sure that the hardware one, is set to None.

4. Start TT5 and the GPS settings, select another bluetooth GPS, and you will see COM 0 free. Select COM 0 and close TT5.

5. At the GPS control panel again, now select COM 6 (before we set it up at 0).

6. At BT: select OUTGOING port to WHATEVER NUMBER IS AVAILABLE EXCEPT 6.

7. Back again to GPS control panel and select NONE.

8. Finally start TT5 and it should connect automatically.

has anyone else having this problem? or have i just missed something obvious?

many thanks!!

I found a guide that worked for my version of TomTom by adding a GPS icon to your Settings -> Connections.

1. With a registry editor such as PHM Registry Editor, navigate to the registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\GPS Settings".

2. Within the registry key, delete any entries.

3. Add a DWORD entry called "Group" and give it a Value of "2".

4. Soft reset your Pocket PC.

5. On your Pocket PC, go to Settings -> Connections to ensure that the GPS icon is there.

6. Setup the ports in the GPS setting for your Bluetooth device and Software (TomTom) and match those within your GPS program.

On some versions of TomTom its necessary for TomTom to see a specific GPS serial port that can (as far as I can tell) only be set by this GPS connection program. After you have paired with your Bluetooth GPS device you could try setting an Outgoing port to COM7: as that is a default COM port that TomTom Navigator can connect to.
