Anyone know either when this phone will be available in the UK or where I can buy an Unlocked US veraion for which I can insert my Tmobile UK SIM?

$500 is about £300 I think
Not a bad price to be honest

One thing I'm not clear on though is whether it will work an all UK networks - I thought I read somewhere that the bands it supports rule some networks out.

Did I imagine that, or is it true? (and which networks if it's true)

It works on the Cingular 3G (different freq from EU) network for US and all GSM networks worldwide.  If you want to use the high speed capabilities in Europe you're out of luck
