Are you using it with a TomTom device? or a Jabra headset?

Mine does this, and T-mob want me to return for investigation and/or replacement. Still awaiting the pre-paid packaging they promised last Weds (6th). I phoned on Mon and they said "oh, the system is queued at the moment, there might be a wait" Doh...

Is it the actual BT that turns off? Mine keeps switching to undiscoverable after I have switched it to discoverable. After a few mins it will always revert to undiscoverable.

My SPV M3100 keeps switching off bluetooth shortly after it connects to my Parrot 3100 Car kit. Parrot are looking into it but I believe it's a common Hermes issue.

Ah-ha! That means I shouldn't return my VarioII to t-mob, as the risk of getting something worse in return seems to be possible.

Perhaps we need to wait for an HTC fix, but unless they get returns will they know they need to make a fix?!

Catch-22.....

Paul, if you're reading, any ideas?

On my VarioII it switches off, the blue flashing light goes out and the comm manager button is "off".

No ideas....

Would be interesting to see if anyone with a TyTN has had the problem, or with any newer ROM builds.

I had many phone calls with t-mobile over the bt issue with my mda II, if you connect it to external power in the car or disable the option to turn of the phone when in battery power the bt will stay enabled.

I got fobbed of to HTC by tmobile, they were not impressed, but did say it was a known issue that all hermes suffer from :)

Any clues as to where to find that option?

"known issue" ? Great, guess they don't test these products at all.

Roll on a Nokia HSDPA device, and I can sell this ;-)

start > settings > system > Power > Advanced then untick the turn off device if not used for (battery one)

then when you get in the car turn on the phone and then let the screen go of rather that pressing the power button.

prob is battery goes down quick... best solution is to get a car charger or cradle with power

nokia! think they have had their fair share of firmware issues ;-)

Thanks, was thinking of getting a cradle, guess this clinches it :)

True, but often acknowledge them. Reliable bluetooth support isn't a new idea now....!!

My TyTN and M3100 both do it. I'm not sure what causes it. Some days it will work fine all day and another it will turn itself off every 5 mins!

FWIW I'm now fed up of my Vario II. TomTom released a firmware update, and that's stopped the bluetooth turning off, and the voice support works, but I cannot get the data support to work (needed for TomTom PLUS services, like traffic news).

I need to send the unit back, as the holder for the stylus 'clicked' the other day, and now the stylus is very very loose. I guess some friction clip has died. Not good, especially as this is part of the main plastic body. The phone is less than 4 months old !!

Anyone got any experience of any other HSDPA capable unit, e.g. the Samsung that T-mob sell?

So what you're saying is the BT turning off is a TomTom issue and not a Vario II issue?

Can't be 100% sure, as it used to do it with the Jabra headset. Although I use that headset so infrequently now, I've not tested. Perhaps TomTom have fixed something else, who knows.

The data thing is the major one though. The traffic news is so very very very very useful, I'd go back to my 6230i and GPRS to use it.

Now if T-mob do dual SIMs then I'd get one of those. Time to call tomorrow I guess. (Many Orange customers at work have dual SIM, as older BMWs and Mercs have SIM card slots in the car)

Me likewise, I usually leave my phone in it's case in the car and just turn on my BT headset (Motorola HS820) and there have been a couple of times when the BT hasn't connected which I've only found out about when I get a call that I can't answer!

There doesn't seem to be any pattern either - I'm using a T-Mob Vario II with nothing else installed so doesn't suggest it being a TomTom or 3rd party software issue. Maybe it's the headset but that's pretty vanilla too.

I guess I'll have to check my blue light is flashing every time I get in the car! My only suspicion could be to do with power in the battert. I can't recall from previous occasions but I know the last time it happened, the battery was at less than 30% - some internal setting that turns off any sort of wireless connections to save power?
