Howardforums has a ton of info, but nothing on unlocking. Might I suggest calling your phone company and asking them to unlock it for you.

There is a free method but it's tricky and also not compatible with all
of the firmware versions.

Also depending on the network the phone was on are you sure it is SIM locked? as some networks do not lock them.
