If you are using Vista and Windows Mobile Device Center with OneCare, you need to configure some ports in the firewall for the device to connect. This may also (read 'will probably') be necessary with firewalls other than OneCare too :) Take the following steps... - Right click the onecare icon (green '1' in the system tray) - Click 'Open Windows Live OneCare' - Click 'Change OneCare Settings' - Click the 'Firewall' tab - Click 'Advanced Settings' - Click the 'Ports and Protocols' tab - Click 'Add', and repeat for the following ports (I set them all up for the 'local network' scope): Port 990 inbound TCP Port 999 inbound TCP Port 5678 inbound TCP Port 5679 outbound UDP Port 5721 inbound TCP Port 26675 inbound TCP - Click OK / OK / OK - Replug device[/code] You should then be syncing to your heart's content! :D [i]Here ends the Public Service Announcement. This is a great site! :) In fact....I removed One Care while I was setting up WMC with my XBOX, because it wouldnt let me connect. But I never tried to connect my phone again. Guest stevekay Posted February 5, 2007 Report Share Posted February 5, 2007 (edited) I had the problem of connecting through WMDC, however when I checked the Ports & Protocol tabs as described, I noticed that ActiveSync was listed at the top of the list. Putting a tick in that box solved the connection problems! BTW: There are also settings for XBox Media Center Extenders on that list... I was connecting fine earlier this week...something updated last night I believe and it wont connect now.
