But you have to be careful as tap it too long and you 'reject' the call, which is what I believe you're trying to avoid. It is possibe, i have the HTC and tapping the JOGR twice didn't mute the call by default, i had to go and make the necessary changes in the Registry. Out-of-the-box, with the Dash (it's actually in the documentation) if you do a quick tap (once, not twice) during an incoming call, the ringer is muted. If you tap 'n hold for a sec, it rejects. You can modify the registry to do away the the tap 'n hold rejecting part, as I was constantly rejecting calls when it was on.
