Guest Neil5459
Anyone got any ideas? i've only got 25mb NOW, only got memaid installed to internal memory (nothing on storage card) as im sending my faulty 2gb ULTRA2 back 25MB free program memory after a soft reset is actually pretty good. With Pocket Breeze, SpB Time and SK Menu I start with around 24MB Program memory. The more Today Plug-ins you run, the lower the inital program memory will be. Each application you run subsequently will reduce the PM accordingly, regardless of where the program installed. Program memory works like the RAM in a PC, but as WM5 doesn't actually close applications if you hit the taskbar 'Cross' you may find you run low if too many apps are open. The OS is meant to close un-needed apps if memory gets low, but it doesn't make a very good job of it sometimes. You need to open Start/Settings/Memory/Running Programs from time to time, and manually stop some of the background apps. One problem with Phone Devices is that if the Program Memory gets down to below 4MB, there may then be insufficient memory to open the Ringer and phone, so you can miss calls. Storage memory is another matter- this is the slower 'Persistent Memory' type which remains even with a flat battery, and it is this memory that acts like the hard disk on the PC- for storing applications- in your case Memmaid. Storage Memory also stores things like the PIE cache, and this can build up frighteningly quickly. It is recommended to open PIE and go to Menu/Tools/Options/Memory and Delete temporary files. A couple of hours browsing can build up 2-4MB of temporary files. You can't physically increase Program Memory.
Guest jem777
Is there a software to monitor memory usage by process, services and applications (also hidden ones). This could be useful to understand why after reboot my Trinity has 50% free software mem and after some usage goes up to 75% and task manager does not show any process or application running.
