Following up from my 'Ask me about SMARTPHONES' topic, i've posted a short video of the devices with some of their peers.

Check it out... tell me if you love it / hate it... I suspect I don't have another career in Television ;)

P

PS Soapbox is great :(

PPS I've now decided this is the first item in a new 'MoDaCo.TV' feature :D

My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds- pretty standard really. At the age of twelve I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum... it's breathtaking- I highly suggest you try it.

Lovly video!

Edit:
How about some high res photos of the vox?
Does it feel any bulky?
Any cons so far?

Mobile Phone: Qtek 8010, 200 MHz, 32 MB RAM, 256 MB MINI-SD, Telia
GPS Mobile Phone: Motorola A925, 168 MHz, 32 MB RAM, 256 MB SD, Tre (Three)

Well about that symbian sh*t to motorola :) Tre (Three) was "giving" away phones at a cost of 67$, no more costs, thats it 67$ and no more. The best phone they had was motorla A925, so i bought it. I think i will use it as a GPS unit :) Becuse it have inbuilt GPS :)

Photos to come too.

BTW, if you point your device at http://soapbox.msn.com/mobile and search for 'S710', you should find this vid and be able to play it on your device! (connection allowing)

I admit I wasn't impressed with the Vox until i saw that vid, its REALLY nice, thought it would be a lot more bulky in the flesh.  The G500 looks good too, nice features but i think the Vox is a bit more practical.  Didn't realise quite how thin the Excalibur was either ;)

Side Note....Is Microsoft a microsoft employee?

Imaging a video review of your next phone.
Where one would have the option to read a review...or watch the video....or both.
(More work for you though! ;))

Either way...I think regular vids would be a HUGE hit!

Very good video. Would be even better if it were subtitled or transcripts attached with the video so I can understand.

Good point Tony, hadn't considered the accessibility perspective.

I'm gonna go and eat curry now, but on Monday i'll post a transcript, and be sure to do it in future.

Is there a tool to let you subtitle a DivX or a WMV?

Paul,

Fantastic addition to the reviewing process I think. The video quality of soapbox is far superior to that of say YouTube et al.

It's great to see devices being held and manipulated by hand and with other devices close by for reference, its much more informative than giving dimensions or even photo comparisons. Sizeasy is great, but I think seeing someone using and holding the devices adds that extra bit of context.

Good work!

The only thing I can think of is this as it's a tool that I've seen a few people use to create subtitles for their videos:

http://www.divx-dige...tle_studio.html

I use VobSub to watch movies with a *.sub file, so the text appears as overlay on the movie. This way, you do not have to re-encode the videos you made all over again.

But obviously this is something that I have not used to create subtitles so I'm the wrong person to ask. ;) Perhaps someone here have done it before.

Thanks, Paul.
