In terms of battery life, I'd say it's almost exactly the same as the C600. I was carrying both of them around for about a week before my number switched, and the batteries seemed to decline at roughly the same rate.
Mobile telephone history:
Sony CMD-J5 → Sony CMD-Z7 → Orange SPV → Orange SPV E100 → Orange SPV C500 → Orange SPV C600 → O2 Xda Graphite → Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 → Samsung Omnia 7

Ordered a Graphite from o2 yesterday. They won't do an upgrade as my son's contract is not up until October but said I could buy it for £199. Couldn't resist it. Fingers crossed it works with t-mobile. Anyone want to buy a Vario II?
Need more buttons

Hi Paul.
Wondering if you can help. I've had several XDA's in the past, the mini s being one and all has been dandy. However the graphite i have just recieved seems to constantly make the familiar ju, ju, ju - ju, ju, ju noise over my speakers linked to my HiFi. Any ideas how to reduce/stop this before I throw the phone across the room or pound it on the edge of my desk!!!!*%$!!!???
Many thanks...

I have no experience with this particular phone however I have seen this many times before and posted on Modaco regarding SSL configuration with Exchange and Mobile active Sync.
There are registry hacks for WM5 that may get around your problem in this forum. WM5 is configured only to take root certs from commercial CA's and checks your cert against its internal list.
If I recall correctly on my tek 8310 running WM5 it warned me when I tried to install my own root cert however, after "application unlocking" the phone it allowed me to continue.
The best advice I can give you is to look for work around in this forum. You might try here http://www.modaco.co...SSL Certificate as a starting point

Spoke to O2. Found out that there’s nothing they can do about the phone constantly searching and therefore generating the noises over a speaker system. Is there any point for such a high frequency of searching?
Another announces are...
Battery life is not good. 1 night of charging achieves barely 2 days of stand by!
Why are the back, start and soft buttons not illuminated?
Why can’t I change my start page view to list?
Who designs these phones? Why don’t they build on previous successes? Why the hell does it leave programs open and you have the option to manually shut them down? Why aren’t more Windows compatible? I wish Nokia did one. Never had any trouble with them back in the day.
If anyone reading this wants an industrial designer to design something that externally works whilst we kick the UI designers into doing something SENSIBLE! Drop me a line.... www.anthonydickens.com

1. How close can the camera be to its target while retaining focus? Its specs don't mention macro mode so I'd like to know if it is possible to photograph newspaper text.
2. How good is the flash in terms of distance from target in total darkness?
3. What is the size of a picture file at maximum res and quality?
Text or sample pictures would be great. I have seen sample picture of ">

I conclude that there is a reconnection problem whenever this phone encounters a weak signal. Sometimes it can reconnect but with no guarantee. Most of the time I have to turn it off/on to re-establish a connection. This is the third handset replacement O2 gave me but with the same problem. One example of reconnection failure was when I arrived in the office, my O2 XDA 2i (with a pay as you go O2 SIM in it) registered 4/4 signal strenght while this phone has no connection (this is indicated with a "slashed circle" beside the antenna icon), I have to turn it on/off to re-establish a signal which registers 4/4 after that.
If I am on a weak signal area, although the XDA Graphite will register 1 to 2 bars but quite often I encounter call/SMS failure. I missed several important calls/SMS because of this.
Its really a shame because apart from that problem, everything works fine (active sync, bluetooth, wifi, skype application, etc). I'll be returning this phone & will get a Nokia E65 instead.

This is definitely a problem- I, luckily, live in a strong signal area. Also, my battery will sometimes only least 5 hours on standby with no calls!! Seems to happen when I leave it charging overnight. Other times, it's not so bad - up to 2 days.

I also have encountered this reconnection problem. In my area the phone often moves between the 3G and GPRS networks, often failing to get a signal at all.

I've set up the Wi-fi connection to my home router and it connects ok, but every time I start IE or MSN on my phone it uses the GPRS not the wi-fi? What am I doing wrong?
Fogive me if this is a noob question, this is my first phone that actually does stuff other than make & recieve calls & texts.
Regards,

Hi Paul :-) - or any other MVP & specialist
Another question about WM6 upgrade for Asus Jupiter aka XDA Graphite aka v1210 / VDA IV . I have read about the WM6 upgrades for this device. There are different questions you may answer :-) (if you know;-)
Facts:
1.) I have a German Vodafone VDA v1210 / VDA IV with Windows Mobile 5.
2.) I like this smartphone very much - so i would like to upgrade and keep it
Questions:
1.) Which language Files are included in the original O2 UK update ? (English for sure - what about German?)
2.) Would it be possible to flash the O2 Firmware on this device ? ( my first ASUS Hardware based Smartphone - HTC has CID Lock in most cases) ( 1 Year ago I flashed my XDA phone with an Original Qtek 8310 update - it worked fine, although missing Hardware like WIFI in XDA phone)
Thanks a lot your help ... I´d like to keep my Candybar 3G Smartphone :-)
CU Steve

- I found an original upgrade on Vodafone New Zealand Site - but any hints about installed languages - except English of course :-(
- I also found the upgrade on my-xda.com , but I canot download because of OEM Vodafone Hardware.
