My BT PAN LAN speed from my laptop to the i600 is only 1mbps, slower that what HSDPA is technically capable of. Is there a way to fix this?

Are you sure your laptop has BT 2.0 with EDR support? If it has just BT 2.0 without EDR you will not get faster speeds than 1 Mbps (actually only 730 kbps).

At least my laptop has no EDR support. But I will buy an BT USB adapter soon and check out how fast the i600 is.

Just looked at the spec for my laptop and it says USB2.  It is only 12 old.

Well, but USB is not Bluetooth.

You have to look up the spec of the built-in Bluetooth (BT) interface. If it has built-in Bluetooth.

Some laptops have BT 2.0 + EDR, some have BT 2.0 without EDR. Some have the older BT 1.1 or 1.2 only even if they are only 12 months old.

EDR means Enhanced Data Rate and allows theoretically BT speeds up to 2.1 Mbps. If you have BT 2.0 without EDR it is not faster than BT 1.1 or 1.2 was. That is the problem with my laptop.

Just made a couple of tests with Bluetooth 2.0 and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR and the difference is enormous. On the left HSDPA w/o EDR, on the left HSDPA w/EDR. Both connected to the same Notebook via Bluetooth:

Does the i600 have BT2.0 or BT2.0+EDR

I can find no EDR info anywhere for this phone.
