Hi,

I've just got my e650 and I can't get the "send all contacts via bluetooth" to work between it and my K800i. When I go through the process the K800i sees the e650, starts sending and thinks the process has completed. HOWEVER, on the e650 I get an error message saying the data couldn't be saved really quickly, as though the permissions aren't right or something. I don't every really use bluetooth so it's probably a ticked option I haven't got too.

Any ideas?

Many thanks in advance

I think its actually a compatibility issue. Sony Ericssons bundle all your contacts into one uber contact. If the E650 is unable to unpack this data (a possibility) then it'll fail. Best best is just to sync them all to your PC then back onto your E650. You have a backup then as well

Good point, Sony are a little "special" aren't they :P

Very possibly why the darn thing is going out the door too.

Thanks for your help.

I had the k800i.

In terms of a pure phone, the K800 was better. The battery life was longer, the camera better, the menu's quicker to navigate around (generally) and easier to do the basic phone tasks. It also had some nice touches over the e650 like the clock on the screen with the message / missed call icon - the e650 you have to press a key then check the screen, probably shortening batter longer, would be nice if the 650 could have different LED colours for message received or something. It's not much, but annoying when you've had it.

I got my e650 for the wifi capability so I can use my work webmail abroad, and also for typing emails at home without the laptop. For that it wins hands down. I don't use Outlook for contacts or anything like appointments etc so don't get that benefit. The camera is OK, although I find the menu system a lot more hassle (like switching between camera and video on a stag night on Sat took some drunken concentration), not nearly as intuitive.

The 650 using the standard USB port to charge is a godsend though, I just have a USB cable at work for top ups, better than lugging the proprietory Sony cable around. Also things like contacts etc are standard now. Plus the ability to add programmes you need/want etc is a really cool.

If you want a pure phone, then I'd stick with the Sony, but if you want that extra functions and will actually use the smartphone capability then the e650 is the best of the ones I've tested/seen at being a jack of all trades.

At the moment, I'm glad I swapped, although whether by years end I've got a sim free pure phone in Hong Kong for day to day I don't know.
