Does anyone know if there is a utility that will dynamically scale the processor speed of the Samsung SC3 2442 400 MHz Processor like what XCPUScalar does for TI OMAP and Intel XScale processors.

How about this?

http://www.wizcode.com/products/view/pocket_hack_master

Or on Pocketgear here:

http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=7258

It explicitly mentions the Samsung processors as supported (" SamsungĀ® S3C2410, S3C2440, S3C2410A, S3C2440A, S3C2442"), looks good from the specs, and has a 30 day download.

One thing it doesn't mention is WM6 compatibility (if you upgraded your ROM to WM6) but it does mention WM5 so I'd be very interested in any WM6 X500 users who have tested this.

It's probably the first app on my to-buy list when I get my X500 or X500+ because I want to stretch battery life as far as possible so using the ability this has to underclock apps like my ebook reader, solitaire, sudoku etc will be a huge benefit for me.

Downloaded and installed fine. I was able to get into all the settings. But for some reason the GPRS would not connect. I un-installed and everything was good again. If someone else could try it and report their findings it would be appreciated.

You might try going to the "developer blog" section section on the Wizcode web site (http://www.wizcode.com/devblog). The developer is talking about a 15th June beta for the next version and asking for input on what should be in it. "Fix GPRS compatibility problems on E-ten X500" sounds like a pretty good suggestion to me.

Taking a "glass half full" approach, it might be good timing to be at the point where the code is currently open and the possibility of getting a quick fix much higher.

Let us know how you get on.

By the way, are you mostly looking at this for underclocking (to increase battery life) or overclocking or a combination of the two? If overclocking then what apps do you find most in need of this?
