How configurable is the UI?

mjt2810's post in the other thread with the side-by-side screenshots vs SPB Shell was interesting (http://www.modaco.co...ic=255625&st=20). On the launcher/menu screen the SPB Shell has space for 9 items and the HTC UI only has 6. Is this configurable at all on the Touch UI? I realise you can "flip the cube" to get to more stuff but that's an extra gesture and personally I'd like to get just a bit more onto each screen.
