Just wanted to remove some unused programs, and found the list empty.

Has anyone had this problem before or know how to fix it?

Thanks in advance

I don't know if the problem remains on the E650 but on the other SPV Smartphones the list would disappear after installing c.35 programs (including cab/hme homescreens).

You could still uninstall using AS just not on the phone.

Unless you just deleted the AppMgr folder ?...

The problem did come back, and it could be the fact they were homescreen plugins.

Perhaps it also could because my "remove programs" list already contained 43 programs. Is there a limit?

I did another hard reset, restored from latest backup, and this time I deinstalled 3 unused/rarely used programs, then added the new 3 plugins. This time the list is still there.

.......when the screen goes blank :P

From the replies so far this indicate this is known problem and it's quite common then.

So in summary, other than a hard reset/restore or having to resort to alternative software to remove progams, and there is no way of recovering from this.

Nice one :)

...and as I said, this has been a known fault since the first SPV :)

Maybe it's deliberate.

Come on, do you really need all that additional software ? You can't be using it all the time !

I have seen this before and its sometimes caused by a reg edit that is incorrect...often finding that one icorrect entry and restore it to the right setting brings them all back.

on my Qtek 8310 it was in

HKLM/Security?AppInstall/????

????= the name of the applet

the dwordthat says "Role" had to have an entry of 24 if it contained any other the applet would not show in the remove list.

please note this is not a fix for your problem as I fear you have a different problem but for the record I have over 50 programs installed and they all show in the remove list on the phone

If it was deliberate, there should be a notification warning advising me I was reaching my limit, rather than remove the entire "Installed Programs"list and prevent me from removing the programs. There's just no logic in that. ;)

I agree, 43 is excessive :P , but they're not all Apps. It's an SPV e650, so as soon as I hard reset, I need to install a De-Brand, an Installer Fix, an unlocker program, and a few more Modaco tweak files (Card_Cache, DoNew etc). Then after installing Pocket Mini Golf2 and plugins (which is 7 in total), I'm already up to 12 installed programs, which really only equates to installed Application (Pocket Mini Golf). Homescreen plugins add to the list too, so it all soon mounts up.

I also do try before I buy when it comes to software, and admittedly, don't remove the expired Apps immediately, but this problem prevents me from doing so.

It was a good suggestion to use ActiveSync, which is a good workaround, but I would like to know what causes it. This phone has so many BUGs at the moment, most of them already addressed with registry fixes, so this must be another easy solution.

I think "conan_troutman" is on the right track by suggesting a corruption in the registry and subkeys from "HKLM/Security/AppInstall"

I'll check that out when the problem re-occurs.

Thanks everyone for their replies so far :)

I've heard the limit is 50 items.

This is true for all WM versions I saw yet. If the list in registry would be corrupt then you would also not get a complete list in AS anymore. So as long as all appears fine in AS the registry is correct as well.

Nevertheless it would be nice to get rid of the 50 entries limit... I also passed that already long ago.

Had the problem again today after installing another App "Clock On Top".

Luckily, ActiveSync (as suggested by Disco Stu - Nice one!) allowed me to still remove programs. I removed one program, and the list returned.

I then counted the number of programs installed, and the count was 48.

Anything above 48 installed programs/tweaks/cabs causes the list to empty.

Cheers
