Benq E72 image-fest at PhoneDaily

Chinese mobile site 'PhoneDaily' has some great pics of the forthcoming Windows Mobile Smartphone from Benq (what, they still exist?), the E72.

The 13mm thick device, which apparently packs some serious new cost-saving technology under the skin, features Windows Mobile 6 (of course), a 2 Megapixel Camera, microSD expansion, WiFi and some nice looking UI customisations.

Although the PhoneDaily article is in Chinese (not my forte), it's well worth a look for the photos and screenshots alone. I personally like the styling, the photos taken by the device look more than acceptable, and Benq's own tweaks look interesting.

Sadly, I would be surprised to see the device get released outside of Asian markets, but here's hoping for a rock bottom priced release over here eh?

;)

I've been reading through the Chinese, and admittingly I'm not the best reader, but the only real substance is far is about the camera. It's okay, they say, with a little red bias, and has a oil painting effect under insufficient lighting. The rest of the vitals you can actually gleam from the English / Arabic numerals.

I'm probably too lazy to slog through the rest for such a phone that really isn't so exciting.

i've got a testing sample on hand. it's a very good smartphone indeed. i have been testing it for nearly 1 month.

it's fast, it's thin, and it's light....

only if benQ can include M$ Office to E72 will be perfect. (anyway, it isn't difficult to find one using google... ;) )

my testing unit has been sent back for final firmware update, it seems, it will be launch soon.

for the last firmware i've got, some surprise i've found:

1) it has fizz traveller built-in

2) facade also built-in

so, besides the good looking flash homescreen, i can just copy facade homescreen templates and use them directly. saves me some $$$...

the battery life is quite good, unlike the graphite, i can charge it every 2.5 days, even for heavy usage, it can last at least 1 full day.

its size is very very small, even smaller than my wife's sonyericsson phone.

though it's not a 3G phone, the speed when using EDGE is excellent!!

one disappointment:

it didn't have M$ office built-in, anyway, it didn't bother me much, finding a M$ office is easy, thanks for google!!

BTW, i've got another BenQ smartphone on hand... guess what it is??

Is there a possibility to disable flash homescreen and using the standard wm6 appearance?

Let's hope this comes out soon, and CHEAP (which is the idea behind the handset).

T80 looks interesting too.

P

E72 will launch soon in Asia, the price is around $350 - 400us.

for T80, it's a special machine... with a special feature!!! NFC..

"The BenQ T80 phone is the world's first handset to store NFC applications in the Secure Digital Memory card. The microSD card will host a range of NFC applications for mobile wallet, transport ticketing and security to be stored on the embedded, highly secure NXP SmartMX chip." - http://www.slashphone.com/104/8195.html

This feature? ;)
