Guest krazyasif
Hi I get a few miss calls with the works that I do where the number is witheld/private numbers (i.e. the number does not show on my phone) so I cant call them again ... ... Now is there a type of software for my PDA (Orange SPV M700) that will allow me to see witheld numbers? ALso is there a software that will allow me to view my contacts so that I know which mobiles are on and which are off etc? Thanks in advance Asif ;) Edited October 19, 2007 by krazyasif
Guest Confucious
Errr - NO! That's the whole point of withholding a number - they don't want you to phone them back.

They said that their phone allowed them to do that When you make a call there's some data that goes to setup the call. The data contains things like caller's number, destination number, time, TIMSI, etc etc. If you withhold your number there is a flag set in the header info to say not to display the number however the data field for your number is still populated. Think about it, billing systems still need to know who made the call so the info still has to be there! If you had suitable software you could quite easily ignore the withhold flag and show the number. Such software would need to work at the call signalling level, google SS7 for more info. In short, as an end user you have no chance, as a telco you can do it easily. Edited October 19, 2007 by Stuart_f
