Guest Paul (MVP)
To install Wine on Eee: - Run a terminal window (Ctrl-Alt-T) - Run konsole (optional, allows you to paste stuff in!) - sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list - Paste at the bottom of the file: deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ stable main non-free contrib deb http://non-us.debian.org/debian-non-US/ stable/non-US main contrib non-free
- Save (Ctrl-X then Y) - sudo apt-get update - sudo apt-get install wine - sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list - Re-edit the file, adding a hash before the two new repositories, i.e.
#deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ stable main non-free contrib #deb http://non-us.debian.org/debian-non-US/ stable/non-US main contrib non-free - sudo apt-get update All done! You can now run software in wine by running WINE EXEFILENAME from the command prompt. P
Guest
Nice 1 Paul, bit of a noob question here but will WINE only run single exe applications? ie apps that don't need an install on windows?
Guest Paul (MVP)
No, you can run the install through WINE, then (assuming it works OK), you can use the application as normal. P

Guest jcaryy
hi everyone iwant to share something with you If you have a usb cd drive, install xp normally. You should remove ALL partitions, including the one marked bios, when you are selecting the install partition, and make a single one. consider using nlite, my xp install was about 520megs, leaving plenty of space. losing all the extra **** meant a boot time of less than 20 seconds!
