Guys I [finally] got my 8gb card in today.

But I need help formating it so it includes all the necessary folders.

I did a search on here and found one way of doing this - but it was using a PC... but I have a Mac :(

The other option was to install Total Commander 5 - but i could only find .exe files for this - which, again, I cant install using my Mac

Is there any other way I can format the card?

Thanks

Just add the folders you need manually through resco explorer. just open the file manager then select menu then new folder. then rename the folder as in My Documents be sure to capitalise the first as its supposed to be in your file system and it will be recognised as the probler documents folder for ther sd card. do the same with music and video folders if you dont capitalise the foirst letter the folder wont be recognised as the default folder

Thanks lads.

I can't believe how much of a pain it was trying to re-install, re-set, re-organise everything.

Will add those folders in tonight.

Strangely, after I installed Kaiser Tweak,I now have 3 folders in Storage Card\My Documents called Audio, Images and Video. I'm assuming I can delete these folders and just replace them with My Pictures, My Video, My Audio???

Paul, slightly off topic here, but have you tried the memory card reader that came with the card on your Mac? If so, did it work?

I tried my memory card reader but the Mac didn't pick up anything!

OOps. Did I do something wrong?? By format, do you mean run a special utility of some kind? Mine was recognised straightaway via activesync and I just created a few folders with my own names. I am a bit confused.

Yeah, thanks, I thought everything seemed to be working OK. So what does sc0user_75 mean by "all the necessary folders"? Is the system expecting folders on the stoarage card with certain names?

Restorer, ignore my comments! I was being a bit thick :( I thought that when you "format" the memory card it would create all the necessary folder (My Docs, My Pics etc).

I didnt realise you had to create the folders yourself!

what I do is backup my sd card to my pc by using a card reader and making a complete copy, that way if I change sd cards or buy a new on all I have to do is copy the contents of the backup onto the new sd card. I keep the backup updated every week so its always current. its worked with me on my Qtek 9000, MDA Vario and now my tytn II. when I swapped to the 8GB card from the 4GB one it litterly took 5 minutes to copy all the files over and it was done and ready to use

I might be wrong here, but as far as I remembered, I didn't have to make ANY of these folders on the card at all, and the device made the dirs automatically as needed? Might be barking up the wrong tree, though.

You don't need to manually make any directories.

P

So how do you go abouts auto creating relevant folders dude?

PS Paul, any chance you can give me some guidance please on how to use the SD card reader?

Using a Mac, OS Tiger.

see if apple have the drivers needed for the MicroMate it may be a case of tiger not having the SDHC drivers, Vista had the drivers but its a fairly new os with a hell of alot of added driver support and its Windows rather than apple. maybe you have found a reason not to use Apple :D :(

Ive been looking around and found nothing about OS X support for SDHC cards BUT I did find that the MicroMate SDHC card reader is OS X compliant according to this http://www.amazon.com/tag/os%20x%20sdhc%20.../A2Y5DZ6GLMJLXT
