Hi all,

My contract with Orange is due to come up for renewal in a months time. I've been generally pleased with O's voice call quality and coverage but I've found customer service to range from 'utterly clueless' to 'competent' and the ongoing lack of any decent data charges extremely frustrating.

I wondered if anyone had any leads on whether they will be sorting out the data plans in the near future ? I am be keen to use my smartphone for what I see as it's intended use (mobile email, web browsing, etc) but don't think it's fair to be charged £40 a month for relatively light use on Orange. Especially when other networks will charge you a flat rate for (virtually) unlimited use.

I'm reluctant to go through all the hassle of porting my number to another network if Orange are going to be sorting this situation out in the next 2 or 3 months.

If not, anyone got any recommendations on the best provider to migrate to :D

If they were going to "sort it out" I think they would have done by now.

T-Mobile and Vodafone are the best for data tariffs, then O2, then Orange.

Porting to another network is very easy now - get your PAC code from your current provider, give that code to your new provider, wait a few days.

At the point that your number is "ported" (ie. arrives at your new network) your O contract ends, so check your contract dates to avoid getting hit for an early termination fee

I have a 250mb data bundle on my account. Its called "SINGLE 250MB OBS DATA BUNDLE" and gives me 250mb a month for £7.50. Its not available on their site and needs to be added by Orange Retentions. I'm not a business user either.

Its not as good as T-Mobile, but still worth having. :D

Get your ass over to T-Mobile pronto. Orange don't deserve to keep our business with their laughable data tariffs. My other half and I have both moved from O to T-Mob over this issue, and we're both delighted we did.

And porting your number is really no hassle at all.
